"Line 'em up for the warden!"

"Dad..." I followed Sokka as he pushed through the guards, "Excuse me, coming through. The warden wants me over there. Sorry!"

Sokka and I lined up in our guard uniforms.

The warden started talking to the prisoners, "Welcome to the Boiling Rock. I'm sure you've all heard the horrible rumors about our little island. Well, I just want to tell you that they don't have to be true, as long as you do everything I say," The warden stopped and looked at Hakoda, "Look me in the eye when I'm talking to you."

"No."

"Oh? You'd rather look at my shoes? Then take a look!"

The warden kicked up, using the handcuffs attached to Hakoda to pin him on his knees. I could hear Sokka gasp beside me.

"I know exactly who you are, Hakoda of the Water Tribe. So strong-willed. But don't worry, we'll get rid of that in time. Now look me in the eye!"

Hakoda looked up, face filled with spite and hatred.

"See, isn't that better? You will all do as I say or pay the price. You will all-" Hakoda lifted up his left handcuff, tripping the warden.

I smirked as two guards ran to check on their boss.

"Are you okay, sir?"

The warden stood up, "I'm fine! Get these prisoners out of my sight!"

I guarded the door as Sokka visited his father. We needed a new plan, and if anyone could come up with one, it was those two. I leaned back. My mind drifted to a time before this all started.

"Hey (Y/N)~!" Azula purred at me when I walked by, I had been looking for Zuko and a servant told me he was with his mother at the turtle-duck pond, "Come play with us!"

I turned. I had just turned eleven at the time, but I had an uneasy feeling around Azula, even at such a young age. Ty Lee and Mai were in the courtyard with Azula.

I decided to join them, "Sure, I guess I can play."

Mai was sitting in the shade. Azula was learning how to do flips with Ty Lee. I decided to sit with Mai.

"Hey. I don't think I've ever really had a conversation with you, I'm (Y/N) if you didn't remember."

She looked up, uninterested, "Of course I know. You're always with Prince Zuko."

I blushed slightly, "I guess I am."

My little laughs faded away, resulting in silence.

Mai and I looked up to see Zuko walking by with his mother, Ursa. I smiled, and Mai quickly looked away blushing.

"Watch this!" I watched as Azula ran up to her mother and brother, "Mom! Can you make Zuko play with us? We need equal teams to play a game!"

Zuko glared, "I am not cart-wheeling."

"You won't have to. Cart-wheeling's not a game, dum-dum. (Y/N)'s gonna be the referee, so we still need another person."

Zuko's eyes softened at my name, but then hardened once more once he looked back at Azula, "I don't care. I don't want to play with you!"

I know she was putting on a supremely innocent face, "We are brother and sister. It's important for us to spend time together! Don't you think so, Mom?"

Ursa smiled after looking at her daughter, then at me, then her son, "Yes, darling, I think it's a good idea to play with your sister. Go on now, just for a little while."
