Goodbyes hurt

Chapter 19

Jisoo had noticed,it was pretty clear now.Jimin and Taehyung were trying really hard for her but eventually it got natural.Like the parting never happened.They were holding conversations and sometimes even laughed with each other and Jisoo realized that they didn't even get it themselves.Jisoo spotted Jimin and Taehyung at the far back end of the hall,both of them scrolling down their phones.Jisoo smiled widely as she sat between the table higher from them.
"I am dying here and you guys are playing on your phones",She said as she snatched their phones.
"Hey,I was-",Taehyung started and fell silent,shaking his head.
"So are you gonna tell them?",Jimin asked jerking his head at Jisoo's parents' direction.
"About?",Taehyung was curious.
"Namjoon hyung ofcourse,they doesn't know she is dating him yet",Jimin answered.
"Oh!!Can't wait to see that show go down", Taehyung chuckled as he leaned back into his chair.

"Urgh,But I guess they know at this point cause I always talk about him",Jisoo tried to reason.
"You always talk about me too",Jimin reasoned and Jisoo went quiet for a while.
"But they'd like him though,I mean Joon is just so perfect.He cares a lot and loves me a lot and is so dreamy.Like have you guys seen his dimples when he smile?!"
"Ofcourse ,Oppa's enchanted smile is all that we can think about ..oh!! So dreamy",Jimin said dramatically and Taehyung dissolved to fits of laughter.He unconsciously raised his hand for Jimin to high-five but before he realized what he was doing,Jimin had already reached up and high-fived him back.Jisoo huffed,"You two never change,always making fun of me but seriously-"

Jisoo went on a rant on how perfect Namjoon was but Jimin had realized what he had done too at this point.He didn't dare meet Taehyung's eyes after that.Taehyung stood up at once,"Hey am gonna go take a nap.I am too tired,I can go,right?"
"Uh?Yeah yeah..Go on,Tell me if you need anything.Rest well",Jisoo waved at him and the duo watched Taehyung leave.Jimin's heart felt heavy,he'd never be able to take the pain of Taehyung's back walking away.

"Do you want some cake?",Jisoo broke his thoughts and half-heartedly Jimin agreed .

If Taehyung  lay side-ways,he could see the distant shore and waves lapping over the sand.The light music from the engagement party had long been faded and it must have been hours since he had laid down for some sleep to no success.The hue by the horizon had faded and Taehyung heaved a heavy breath and closed his eyes.

Taehyung closed his books and without heeding to anyone's calls ,walked out of the class.Jimin followed him closely.

"Tae..Taehyungie",He called out.

Taehyung didn't turn around, instead he walked faster.It had been killing Taehyung for a while now,since his father's demise,life was only getting harder and darker.His mother had episodes of mental breakdown and she needed someone to keep an eye on her at all times.Taehyung' s mother was now in a mental health care centre and he lived along with his aunt and uncle.His uncle wasn't very happy about the new addition to his family and ended up making Taehyung's life harder for it.

Taehyung had bruises on his thighs and back,he ran errands and did part time jobs to get his mom out of there and get them a better life.Still Taehyung never complained,Taehyung never told anyone although everyone knew.The rumours spread fast.He kept it in but at the end of it all,when he makes it to class everyone's eyes held pity for him.Taehyung can understand that they care but the questions "are you okay?" was killing him now.No!!He definitely was not okay,Sometimes he wanted to shout that out but he didn't want it to be asked,he didn't want to answer.That's why he walked away from the class,that's why he was done with everything.

Jimin didn't let go,"Tae..wait!!"

"Go away,Jiminie",Taehyung shouted without turning back but Jimin only quickened his pace and rounded Taehyung.Taehyung's face was red from all the tears he was trying to keep in.He brought a hand up to push Jimin out of the way but Jimin surprised him by pulling him into a hug.Taehyung froze,Jimin tightened his hold.His soft voice came against Taehyung's ears,"I got you ,Tae..I got you,Don't tell me anything,I won't ask .I'll be here when you are ready.If you wanna cry,I won't judge.If you wanna shout at me,I'll listen without a word.I am not running away.If you wanna ignore me,I'll still follow few steps behind.If you need a hug,don't ask..I'll know...If-",Before Jimin finished his words he felt Taehyung's hands pressing against his back to complete the hug.

"Ji..Jiminah, please..Jimin-",Taehyung broke and held onto Jimin,for he felt that if he let go of Jimin now,he will lose everything.

"Please..Jimin", Taehyung mumbled in his sleep and Jimin stood by the bed,not knowing what to do.Jimin took a deep breath as he got into the bed and pulled Taehyung into his arms.His heart send  warning signs and red flags but Taehyung like this was more hurtful.
The younger instinctively snaked his hand around Jimin's hips and pulled him.There was no more space between them,"I am here,Tae..am here"

Taehyung gasped as he came into his senses and tried to detach himself from Jimin but Jimin held on.The silence went on and Taehyung's breath steadied and Jimin kept deflecting every single questions in his head.He doesn't want to face any of those right now.He just want to take care of the person in his arms right now.

"Jimin.."
"Hmm?"
"Are we still pretending?"
"I never did"
Noone spoke the rest of the night,one heart silently wishing the night stretched longer,longer than all the moons of the lost 5 years.
