Goodbyes hurt

Chapter 26

Taehyung didn't understand how Jimin had shifted the whole case to his side and made Taehyung feel guilty about it.
"I was trying to be nice",Taehyung justified himself.Why is it that he had to go through everything and still end up being at the wrong end? Taehyung looked over at Yoongi who was conversing in a very low voice,trying to shake off someone.He wanted to ask what was going on,but Yoongi wouldn't tell.Why waste energy?He had got out of his room early morning and decided to stay in Yoongi's room but how long can he avoid Jimin?They had practice later in the evening anyway.But time was snailing away,It felt like ages and with noone to converse,Taehyung finally decided he should take a walk and feed his grumbling stomach something.

On the way to the cafeteria across the dormitory,Taehyung bumped into a familiar face.
"Hoseokie hyung"
"Oh, Taehyung!",Hoseok acknowledged back but he seemed restless and looked like he was up to something.
"Why are you at our block?", Taehyung couldn't help but ask.
"Um..I wanted to see someone",Hoseok said,scratching his head and Taehyung nodded,"Alright,then I don't wanna stall you"
"See you later",Hoseok was quick to do farewell as he walked past Taehyung towards the elevator.

"Joon,we need to change the security code",Jisoo called out to Namjoon as Jimin walked in without an announcement.Jimin sighed at her and fell onto the couch.Jisoo decided to give him some time but when he kept his silence,she asked,"So what is it?"
"We fought again",Jimin sighed again.
"What is it with your friends always moping around in our apartment?",Namjoon asked as he handed over a cup of coffee to Jisoo and Jisoo shrugged.

"Taehyung was here?",Jimin couldn't help but ask.
"Yesterday evening,yes."

Jimin didn't say anything for a while but then he went off,"Look,I was trying to make him feel welcomed.Well,He knows both Jungkook and me,and are good friends with us.So I thought I'll take him with me so he isn't alone"
Jisoo bit her lips and turned to look at Namjoon and Namjoon said,"you wanna tell him?"

"Tell me what?",Jimin had to ask.
Jisoo leant forward,placing the coffee on the table and turning her concentration fully at Jimin.
"Well..He sounds like you"
"Elaborate please"

"You used to complain too when we take you along for our dates.I always assume the same that you'll be lonely and all that stuff and you used to get angry about it too.Didn't you fully blow up that last time when we went to the bowling club? remember? I say Taehyung is atleast nicer than you,he didn't say anything.But you..You said,I quote,"I love you guys but I am done third wheeling and watching you do cringe stuff"",Jisoo waited for Jimin to think.

"I wasn't lonely,I have other friends",Jimin mumbled and Jisoo clapped her hand once as if she proved her point.

"And Taehyung might have other friends too that you may not know about"
"It sucks",Jimin took a while to say that and Jisoo tilted her head in confusion,"what?"
"That I don't know anything about him anymore,let alone his friends",Jimin's lips turned thin and he didn't say anything for the rest of his visit.Jisoo held out a hand to Jimin and said,"Jimin,times change"

"I don't like it",Jimin confessed.

When Jimin left Namjoon's apartment,he had decided he'd apologize to Taehyung and offer him a late dinner after the practice.He had also asked Namjoon to lend his car so he could take Taehyung to Yeouido.Jimin smiled to himself as he made his way to the practice room.Music emanated from the practice room,Taehyung seemed to have arrived.Jimin pushed open the door and witnessed something he didn't expect.Laughter echoed through the practice room and he saw Yuna laughing over Taehyung's shoulder and Taehyung was helping her to straighten up.

"Sorry sunbae,I lost footing",Yuna was saying and Jimin just stood there.A voice in his head was asking him to walk out and be gone before the duo sees him but the other voice..the other one was agonized by pain and he felt his heart break.Just when Jimin regained his composure and started to walk out,Yuna called after him," Sunbae"

Jimin took a second and closed his eyes before turning around and smiling.Taehyung scratched his eyes.
"Oh,when did you come?",Jimin managed to ask.
"Today morning,I am so sorry,Subaenim,that you had to fill in for me",Yuna bowed and Jimin just waved her off,"It's alright.Is everything fine at home?", Jimin's eyes switched to Taehyung who was intentionally looking away.The tension between them was growing.Yuna was replying but Jimin didn't catch any words of her's.And there was a moment which Taehyung turned to catch Jimin's eyes in his and Jimin felt his breath hitch.

"I gotta go,quite busy",Jimin cut in and Yuna went 'oh' and followed with her fairwell.

Jimin didn't look at Taehyung as he left and he had no idea why his heart was aching,why does it hurt so much and there seems to be no plausible reason cause yes,he had always known Yuna was going to come back.And it wasn't even jealousy,he didn't feel jealous at all to  be honest.But the fact that Taehyung could be gone hurted him,someone else could come in between hurted him.He might have taken Taehyung for granted.Jimin stood outside the dance studio door not really knowing where he should go.Soon the dance team will probably come for practice and Jimin couldn't stand the thought of being in the same room with Taehyung right then.He decided he'd wait in the dorm.

Hours snailed away and Taehyung finally came back from practice to enter the pitch dark room and almost jumped as he saw Jimin sitting in the darkness.Taehyung was confused if the lights were not working and reached to turn it on.The light worked just fine,he silently proceeded to change and get fresh.When he came back,Jimin was still in that position and Taehyung was indeed concerned.

"Are..you okay?",Taehyung asked and there was no reply.Taehyung cautiously approached Jimin and gently patted lightly on Jimin's shoulder and he still did not respond.

"Jimin", Taehyung came to kneel infront of Jimin and brought a hand to make Jimin face him.
"What happened,Are you okay?",Taehyung asked and Jimin replied ,"Would you care if am not?"

Taehyung cursed he be damned in hell,there's always a thin boundary he was scared to cross let alone tread and he closed his eyes against it.Taehyung pulled Jimin into his arms and said,"I always care"

"You don't"
"I do"

"Why?",the silence that followed was deafening and Taehyung broke it,"Cause I love you"
