Dalton's pov

For the past few weeks all I've been up to is trying to get my company back on track. It had suffered a huge setback due to the pandemic and we were running at a loss. I've been working non stop , forgetting to eat and sleep and this was giving me a lot of stress. I was extremely tired of all the chaos in my business that I had forgotten what normal life felt like.

I was an average student in my high school but I had studied hard during my college days to get to where I am today. Every time I thought about my teenage life , the bad, dark memories associated with it would come flowing in making me feel guilt all over again. It is something I do not like to talk about or even remember.

Last night I had worked until 2 in the morning and was peacefully sleeping on my bed when a voice woke me up.

" Dalton. ", her sweet voice was heard calling my name as I immediately felt a smile creep on my face.

" Mm Ari you awake so early today?", I spoke groggily.

" Well yes. Is there a problem? ", she asked as I let out a laugh.

" No not at all. ", I said as I closed my eyes again wanting to fall asleep as I was too tired to get up just yet.

She sat in my bed for a while watching me sleep and whined.

" Oh come on sleeping beauty!! Wake up!! ", she said shaking me vigorously but I wanted to play with her so I remained with my eyes closed , not giving in to her whines.

She sounded super excited for a reason.

" Do you remember what day it is? ", she said shyly as it suddenly hit me.

" Holy shit!! ", I cursed, and got out of my bed in a speed of a lightning bolt.

" My skype meeting!!! ", I yelled and entered the bathroom, brushing as fast as I could and fixing my hair as well in the process.

I came out of the bathroom only to find Ariana sat on the bed with a sad look on her face.

I approached her and quickly gave her a kiss.

" Thanks for reminding me. ", I said as she gave me a strange look and left.

I had no clue why she was behaving this way but honestly I didn't have time right now for that.

I checked myself in the mirror to see if I looked presentable enough and started with my skype meeting.

I was kinda late but thankfully Aaron wasn't that mad although the other people in the meeting were.

After an hour and a half of discussing about the trends of our company and how we can get back to selling our houses even during this pandemic , the meeting finally ended.

I let out a huge sigh and shut my laptop. I had impressed Aaron and the shareholders of our business with my ideas so thankfully I was awarded a day off.

I decided to go make some breakfast for myself because most probably Ariana had already had hers. I went downstairs and found my breakfast already made and a note beside it. I smiled at the thought that Ariana had made it for me.

Picking up the note and expecting a cute little message from Ari, I was disappointed to read what was written.

Won't be home today. I'm staying with mommy and Frankie.

No Ari or that cute little heart she puts beside her name?Something is definitely wrong.

I thought back to the time when she looked really sad and hurt in the morning. Shaking my head and pacing back and forth in the empty house, I couldn't make out what made her leave just like that.
