Jomi's POV
The spiders where eye openers,we needed a new home. No matter what ,Mars will never feel like home for us.
We still had to wear a suit if we wanted to head out,we needed greenhouses for planting crops. Children could not go play outside. We had been in Mars for five years and it still didn't feel like home. The green pastures where not here,the ocean bodies,they where not in Mars.
NASA operatives have had countless meetings on this same topic.They were all patient for me to bring an idea.
We were in the meeting room brainstorming on how we could make Mars feel like home. We even tried planting trees ,but it did not grow,it was obvious it would not grow,we were all just desperate.
"I have an idea"I said to myself.
"I have an idea"I said audible enough for the people in the room to hear,they all looked at me expectantly and I continued .
"We have been in Mars for five years. The sun did destroy all earth's livings things bit who said it destroyed earth. What if everything is back to normal . We can send some people back to check ." I said and every one of them seemed to be in thought.
"It would be nice to live in earth again"one of them spoke up.
"I agree with President Jomi"said another ,and just like that,all of them were on board.
The meeting was adjourned and we all filed out of the room. I was the first to exit and who I saw eavesdropping was non other than my daughter.
I dragged her away from the scene before reprimanding her.
"Mily,what are you doing here?,haven't I warned you against eavesdropping? What about your brother,you left him all alone?"I bombarded her with questions.
"I just wanted to say hi to my mum ,is that a crime,I was not eavesdropping,i just managed to be there,and Tristan is with aunt Jenny and aunt Karrie"she answered.
"But still...
"Mum,you really are not thinking of sending people back are you"she interrupted me.
"Yes I am,and it is non of your business "I stated sternly.
"But mum,I think that since we have light speed now,we can explore our galaxy,beyond the solar system. We can find another earth. I know we can."she said. Children and their imagination's.
"No,no one is allowed to explore that far,its to risky.So you will not bring this topic up again,am I clear young lady"I said with the hands on her hips.
"Yes mum"Mily muttered. She lied. I knew Mily enough to know she was as stubborn as me. I sighed,i really needed to have someone keep an eye on her so she stops that eavesdropping habit of hers.
