King shrieks a little as she hits 90 on the freeway; totally the wrong direction for the Res but it gives her a chance to drive her new car. Okay, maybe she can learn to love this gift a little... Or a lot. Thea laughs from the passenger seat as she watches. "Be careful. You are fragile - your brothers words, not mine."

"Yeah? What are your words then?" King says, a grin never leaving her face.

Thea smiles. "I think they need to be a bit more slack on you. You're doing pretty well for a girl who's died so many times and remembers them all."

King groans a bit. "Don't remind me. Every time I sleep, I see a new way I died. Did you know you see for a few seconds after your head is cut off!?" She says. "Coz now I do! Who thought the guillotine was a good invention."

"Oof, I remember that one. He was furious - you weren't the only one who died that day." She cringes.

King rolls her eyes, doing a u-turn when she can to go back towards the Res. "His tantrums were always catastrophic."

"What was he like as a child? He never talks about it." Thea asks, curiosity alight in her red eyes.

King smirks. "From what I could remember, he was a little dick. He had so much attitude that mom would lose her shit and dad couldn't help but laugh. He liked to run things - no change there."

Thea laughs. "Oh I can imagine it. Did he have the long hair?"

"Oh yeah, that was a permanent fixture. The boy hated a hair cut, hated having it tied back and brushed, hated it being washed." King giggles, turning onto the res. "Here's our unwanted escort."

Thea flinches as she catches sight of the wolves running in the bushes beside the road. King hasn't ever seen a vampire flinch... Then she remembers. "I'm so sorry, do you want me to take you back?"

"Don't be silly, it's fine." She forces a smile. "I won't leave your side till your brother is back at it. I just have to tell myself they aren't the same - they're not werewolves of the true kind." She takes a deep breath.

King smiles small. "I didn't think much scared a vampire."

"Not much does... But the thought of loosing a mate is unbearable." She says gently, looking straight at the road. "We mate for life. If I lost Caius... I'd have no point in living."

"Well, I don't think hes ever going anywhere. Have you seen him? The plague couldn't catch him even if he were a human stood right next to someone who coughed."

Thea laughs. "You're very right. Is your father going to be welcoming? He took an earlier flight home with that Embry boy, didn't want to be on a flight with me."

King rolls her eyes "Ugh, he's childish. Dad can't accept this as well as Jake has, or anyone else has. He doesn't see me as a daughter because of my connection to Caius - the vampires are a sworn enemy to the shapeshifters of my family tribe."

"I do recall Caius rambling about that. I'm surprise my husband accepts this but your father doesn't." Thea admits. Her husband isn't the most accepting man - until now, it seems. King brings out a new side of him.

Kingsley parks in front of the small house, smiling as she sees the others all there, too, gathered around a fire already. It's only mid afternoon, but it's cold; the fall weather has turned to winter sooner than expected. "You'll be fine. The pack, they'll mostly be curious. You don't have to answer all their questions, just politely tell them to fuck off."

Thea laughs and they both climb out, Paul already practically drooling at her car. "Kingsley Paige, who's your favourite brother?"

"He can't be here right now." King smirks. "Nice try, Paul."
