50 - Sweet Child O Mine

Elijah stands in ripped jeans, a crumpled white shirt and a leather jacket, the usual battered converse on his feet. He looks away from King for a moment, glancing at Billie. "Hi Princess." He says, slowly kneeling. He holds the paci up. "Is this yours?"

Billie grins as she nods, taking it and popping it in her mouth. King forces a smile. "Say thank you, Bibi."

"Ta." Billie says around the paci.

King smiles small and looks back at Eli, using the moment to take him in; he's as familiar and comforting to her as every before, right down to the messy blonde hair that looks no different to the day she left him. With a deep breath she stands, Elijah doing the same. "It's good to see you... Here... Of all places."

Eli smiles. "Yeah, small world huh. So... How you been? What's her name?"

King smiles as she plays with Billie's fingers. "This is Billie, she's 1 and a half. And we've been super good... Took me a year to come back this time."

"Yeah... Well, I honestly thought you were gone. I mean... Why else would you leave me?" He whispers.

King looks away for a moment, over the water. "I didn't want to... But I knew you deserved better. Look at the state you were in. I didn't even look for you, what kind of person does that make me?" She whispers, looking back at him.

Eli stares at his shoes. "I had 5 broken ribs, a broken collar bone, a fractured wrist, internal bleeding, brain swelling... I should have been dead. You saved me. That-that comforted me to know you died saving me. But... Here you are. You're not even dead. You just... Didn't want me." He clenches his fists a little, clearing his throat.

"Eli..." King says sadly. "Listen, I have an hour before I have to be anywhere. Do you wanna... Grab a coffee? I can have someone grab Bibi."

"Who's here?" He asks, looking around.

"Jake, Ness, Bella, Edward, Charlie, Sue, Seth and Leah. Rach, Paul, Jack and Rebecca and Solomon are coming tomorrow." She smiles small, picking Billie up. "Uncle Charlie is retiring, if you can believe that. I can have one of them grab her if you want."

"Sure." He nods once. "Do you, uh, want me to watch her?"

King tries to hide her surprise, smiling as she hands Billie over. "Sure thing. Sing a song or something, she'll find it hilarious."

"Gotcha." He nods, sitting on the wall with her.

King steps only a few feet away, calling Ness who answers surprised. "Hey, what's up? Were literally not too far now, everything okay?"

"Any chance one of your parents can come grab Billie? I need 5 minutes alone." She laughs nervously.

Ness raises an eyebrow, looking at her dad who nods one; without missing a beat, he's out of the car despite Bella going over 100 mph. Jacob is confused but Ness shushes him. "Dad will be there any sec. Everything okay? Sister to sister."

"All good. Thank you, see you soon." She hangs up quickly, smiling as she takes a moment to watch Elijah with Billie, both giggling at each other. "Am I interrupting?"

"Yeh!" Billie shrieks, bouncing.

Elijah laughs. "She finds everything funny, doesnt she?"

"Basically yeah. And that attitude, feels like I got a one year old going on 13." King smiles, sitting beside him. "Bibi, can you say Eli? Lijah?"

"Ja." She says, pointing at King.

King points at Elijah. "No, this is Elijah. I am momma. Oh and here comes Edward."
