Caius walks the halls of Volterra, heading to the main hall. As he bursts in, he finds his brothers sat around books. He freezes, shocked, taken aback. Aro looks over. "It's about time, brother." He smirks.
"What are these?" He asks, going over.
"We're looking for a way to help that girl you're hell bent on saving." Marcus says in his usual dreary voice.
Caius is taken aback. "Why..."
"Because." Aro says. "You're our brother. And she is your sister."
Caius smiles a little. "Wow... Thank you. This means-"
"Oh don't go all soft on u, dear brother." Aro snaps, rolling his eyes with a huff. "We thought it was about time we pulled out weight in this, since you did 3 thousand years on your own."
Caius smiles and looks at some of the books. "I've read most of these several times."
"We know. Boring dribble." Marcus says, throwing a book over his shoulder. "But Cullen's said it was best to try again."
"We're working with the Cullen's?" Caius raises an eyebrow. "Plural? I thought it was just Isabella and Carlisle."
"Mm we've had them all here." Aro says bitterly. "Even had to work alongside them."
Caius is take aback again. "Wow. Again-"
"Caius, say thank you again and I'll rip your arms off and give them to that wolf as a chew toy."
"Yes brother." Caius smirks as he watches Aro go back to the books.
Caius can't help but be thankful, though, as he watches more books get bought it. Boxes, even, of new books among them. They spend hours searching as the guard keep on. When it comes to "dinner" time, Caius feels apprehensive about their feeding habits. Do they really need so many people? As the frenzy begins, it takes all his strength to leave the massacre - every ounce of control her has. He heads up and out, into the city above.
He keeps to the shadows and out of the way of the setting sun, until he comes to a quiet garden. He pulls his phone out and smiles when he sees a message from his beautiful wife.
I never thought I'd miss you the way I do. But somehow, being with your sister makes it hurt just a little less. She's incredible, Caius. She's so strong, strong willed, mentally strong, physically strong at this point. It's only been a week since I saw you but it feels like forever. I can't imagine how it feels to have lost her for as long as you did. She's safe. She wanted me to show you these. - Thea x
Caius laughs as he sees the pictures of King covered in birthday cake, one of the mutts - Seth? - also covered. There's a few more of King crying by a painting of her family - him included in it - and her hugging her sisters and father. He smiles at those; she's finally understanding the value of family. He begins to respond.
You have no idea how much I miss you either... Its strange, times are changing so fast. I don't mind the changes that come with time but all of a sudden this is a new world we live in. I'm glad she's okay, keep her smiling. I was thinking maybe take her to Ohio - her mother's buried there and it's still a fresh wound for her in this life. All my love - Caius x
He sends the message and sits back, thinking for a moment. As he sits there, in the small garden area, shadowed by the trees, he suddenly grows on edge as he hears footsteps. Why? Why does he feel on edge? He's not felt that feeling since his human days.
It becomes apparent as the person walks into the garden. Clio smirks, looking exactly the same as her son remembers; youthful, smirking and her eyes as cold as her heart. The only difference is she now has an auburn, copper hair colour rather than her signature blonde.
