King wakes early and lays watching the sunrise, eventually getting up and slipping a hoodie on as she heads to Carlisle to get him to change her bandage. After a terrible night's sleep, she still needs answers. But first she needs to go see her dad. She taps gently on Carlisle's office door, hearing footsteps before it opens.
He smiles warmly. "Kingsley... How are you?" He steps aside to let her in.
She shrugs small and hugs herself. "Okay... Can you check on this?" She waves her arm.
He nods. "Course. Come sit."
She sits on his desk and pulls her sleeve up as he grabs a clean bandage and alcohol. He works in silence, cleaning and rewrapping it. "Thanks." She mutters. "How's dad?"
Carlisle smiles gently. "He's doing well. You're seeing him soon, no?"
She nods. "Yeah I am. How lucky, I've been alloted an hour to see him."
"I'm sorry about that... Maybe I can sneak you in after hours this evening?" He says.
King smiles wide. "Wait... You'd do that?" She asks gently.
He nods. "Of course. If you still want to..."
"Why wouldn't I?" She frowns deeply.
"You know." He says.
"Ah... Yeah..." She says slowly.
"And I'm sure you want to talk about it."
"I do." She nods.
"Then we shall. Go see your father and then we can talk about everything, okay?" He says, stroking her cheek gently, barely touching her. He's fond of her already, they all are.
She smiles gently. "Thank you... For everything. I'd say I've made your life crazy, but I bet that's not true."
"Not even close." He laughs.
Kingsley heads back to her room and changes into jeans, trainers and vest top. She grabs her leather jacket, keys, phone and glasses, heading downstairs; everyone gives her space, but Esme waits by the door. "I'm gonna come, make sure you're okay. I won't say a word."
King nods small and gets in the truck, Esme silently doing the same. "Who will be following us?"
Esme looks surprised. "Uh.. Jasper and Rose today."
"Okay. You don't have to keep it secret, I'm not gonna runaway. Not like I can anyway." She mutters, driving the long way to the hospital as she always does.
"Do you want to run?" Esme frowns, not sure she's really wanting to know the answer.
King looks over for a moment as she stops at a sign. "Maybe... Sorta. But at the same time no. I want answers. I got some from Embry, now I need some for you. Who is Caius? Why did he say about killing me? What role do I have in this?"
"I don't know... And we will tell you everything later, okay? Focus on now." She says gently.
King nods small and parks up, deciding now isn't the time. She climbs out and slowly heads inside, Esme suddenly gone. She's checking the perimeter, but King doesn't need to know that. King just heads inside and up to the familiar room.
She smiles small as she sees her dad. He's looking better. Maybe. But at the same time he isn't. He's just so still... She sighs gently and sits down, grabbing the paper to read the recent scores out to him from the sports section, just like always. She reads most of the paper to him today, not wanting to tell him about how fucked up things have become for her, how much she's messed up amongst it all.
