"Is he still, like, in town?" Esme asks, shocked as King updates her on the Elijah situation.
"Yep." She forces a smile. "3 weeks and he still hasn't got sick of waiting around."
Esme sighs small. "Baby... Why don't you-"
"Really. Again, mom?" King huffs.
"I just don't understand why you won't accept he loves you just as you are. He isn't mad that he got hurt because of Clio, or that Billie is apart of the package deal now. You're creating problems out of nothing."
"Of course." She rolls her eyes, throwing the bag of frosting down as she gets frustrated with how the cupcake looks. "I don't want to go through this again. I made my decision now drop it. We have a party happening in less that 24 hours and I'll murder anyone who ruins my baby's 2nd birthday."
Esme nods once and watches King storm out of the room. She sighs and groans once she's gone outside, leaning on the counter. "Nice one, Esme." She mutters.
"What did you do?"
Esme looks up to see Caius stood in the living room, walking over. "Well look who decided to show up." She snaps.
Caius rolls his eyes. "I had business to attend to. King knew I'd never miss Billie's birthday."
Esme rolls her eyes back at him. "Yes well she's needed you the last few weeks. Elijah-"
"Is back, yes I'm aware. Jacob, Charlie, Rachel, Edward and Renesmee have all left messages, and Jasper has sent a few strongly worded text messages. I get the gist." He nods. "I will handle it."
Esme scowls, annoyed, as Caius disappears just as quickly as he came. Caius heads to town, entering a viewpoint, finding Elijah there. "You came."
Elijah turns around, shrugging. "You said you wanted to see me... And I wanted to thank you. For telling me where Kingsley would be that day."
Caius smiles small; yes, he orchestrated all this. He just wants his sister happy, and as far as he can tell and has seen? Elijah has made her the happiest she's ever been in any of her lives - excluding having Billie now. "I see not everything went to plan, though."
Elijah sighs. "I don't know how much longer I can do this, man... Its tearing me apart."
"Elijah I promise you this is what she wants. What she needs." Caius rests a hand on Elijah's shoulder. "Kingsley has and always will be stubborn and she will always try to put others first, even if that sacrifices her own happiness."
"I know. I do. But she won't -"
"Trust me." Caius shakes his head. "She's having a party for Billie tomorrow, I'm inviting you. Propose to her again. She won't say no."
Elijah frowns, hesitant. Maybe he should just go home... He sighs deeply. "Okay... Okay. One last effort, but caius, I can't keep getting hurt. I love that woman with all I have but I don't have much to give anymore."
Caius smiles gently. "It's okay, brother. Trust me."

Emmett smirks as he watches King wipe tears off her cheeks. "So how many times has she cried today?"
"5, and it's not even midday." Jasper sniggers. "I win."
"You guys are a-holes." King sniffs, holding Billie closer. "Thank you so much mom and dad, she's gonna love dressing up in those."
Carlisle smiles, taking Billie as she reaches for him. "No problem honey. Only the best for our girl."
King hugs Esme tightly now her arms are free. Esme squeezes her gently. "I'm so happy baby. Your baby is two!"
