Shikamaru stood at the gate which was crowded with people, a mini war was going to happen so it was bound to happen with families coming to place their luck in their ninja lover, father child etc. Troops were starting to leave according to Naruto's plan and it was then the reality was stuck that this was a war from a new upcoming ninja village that seems well established. Konoha 12 were traveling together but before they could set off with their sensei Tsunade held them back.
Shikamaru could see the blond coming in a completely different outfit to the one he wore when they met. The curved blade brought unease as he watched as Naruto settled it on his back. Naruto smiled when he came in close contact with them.

"Since your going directly to the Kazekage I've asked Naruto to come with you so he could give the Kazekage the full plan in details." Tsunade explained.
"This is bothersome, I haven't slept at all," Naruto groaned, a slap in his head from Tsunade made him whine. "Baa-chan stop abusing me!" Naruto ruffled his hair and looked at the others.
"See you guys, come back in one piece and Naruto please keep your self in check." At that sentence Naruto's face morphed into a terrifying smile. "Wouldn't want you being pulled because you were too soaked in blood."
"You'll never let me live that down," Naruto murmured. "It was one time."
"You were 12," Tsunade scolded before heading off.
A tense silence was left after she left, Naruto started laughing at their faces. "Relax it's a joke from the TI department." A look of realization crossed their faces and they started laughing as well. Naruto smiled and took off with them following after him.

Now there was a certain degree of annoyance one can take, a girl squealing over their crush is one. Through out the start of the journey Ino clung to Naruto as close as she could, she wanted to get closer to the golden blond that was traveling with ease despite his limitations. Naruto wasn't like Sasuke who treated brushed the ones who liked him by being cold. Naruto tried to let them down gently and smile at them. But Naruto can only be so nice for such a long time, he was annoyed with her.
Naruto had created chakra seals which he implanted in his shoes and when he directed chakra to the seals via foot he could climb trees like a ninja should and walk on water. He couldn't produce Ninjutsu and Genjutsu the only thing he could do was channel his chakra through very creative seals which can recreate Ninjutsu depending on his affinity. Water, wind and lightning. As for Kenjutsu he could channel his chakra in his sword to create attacks that utilize his affinity.
As he channeled chakra to his feet he left her behind and made it to the head of the team beside Kakashi. The masked Jounin gave him a puzzled look. "You know your a mystery to most Naruto Uzumaki."
"Oh really is it because of my lack of living up to my father or my mother?" Naruto asked casually. Kakashi's eyes got dark at the comment.
"Naruto your father was a legend and so was your mother." Kakashi said with a positive air.
Naruto smirked a bit. "Yet it was my mother who I ended up taking after, sadly my father's legacy ends with him." Naruto smiled a bit. "You were his student right?" Kakashi nodded opening a book.
"He was a great man," Naruto snorted at that comment.
"Whatever you say." Naruto huffed and fell back to Shikamaru. "Hello my gentle lazy bum."
"What was that," Shikamaru snickered a bit as Naruto smiled.
"My way of opening the conversation." Naruto chuckled. The two traveled side by side joking around until it was nightfall. They set up camp near a river bank which Naruto promptly jumped in after ridding himself of his weapons and shirt. When he came up back he had dinner in his hands and an entire female audience.
"Shikamaru get in!" Naruto yelled as he handed over the food to Yamato, Shikamaru shook his head. Naruto smirked and latched onto his foot and yanked him in the water. The river was deep and had a strong current but time seemed to stop when their eyes met under water.
Shikamaru found it hard to distinguish Naruto's eyes from the water, it was absolutely breathtaking. The thump in his heart got loud as he stared at the inhumane perfection before him. His hair floating around his face reminded him of an Angel's halo.
