Chapter 20: The Call

         Martin Underwood looked through his telescope into the stars. Martin sighed and sat down. Martin's mom walked in. "You okay sweetie?" She asked. " Tommorow is her birthday mom......" Martin said. "I know..... " Martin's mom said. "I wish she was home...... I wish the police didn't stop looking...." Martin said. "Me too sweetie. They police might have said that she's probably gone for good but I know she's out there somewhere. I bet she's trying to find her way back right now." Martin's mom said. "Yeah right! If whe was going to come back she would be here by now! But.......I know she's alive......I can feel it..... maybe she just can't come home yet......." Martin said. "Why wouldn't she be able to come home yet?" Martin's mom asked. Martin shrugged. "Well, I'll leave you alone then sweetie. Don't stay up too late." Martin's mom saidd leaving. "Phoebe please come home........" Martin whispered.

         Bolt told everyone her plan. Everyone was important in it. They would attack in the morning. Donnie made sure everyone's gear was ready and everyone else was training except for Crystal, and April. Crystal was typing on a computer when April walked into the room. "Hey, whatcha doing?" April asked. "Research. I thought you were training." Crystal said. "Well, I didn't see you in the dojo so I was wondering where you were. Bolt told me that we should check up on you but she was in the middle of training with Master Splinter so she couldn't check so I decided to check up on you." April said. "Thanks but I'm fine." Crstal said. "What are you researching?" April asked. "Promise you won't tell Bolt?" Crystal said. "Promise." April said. "I'm trying to find her family!" Crystal whispered. April's jaw dropped. "Her family?" April asked. "Yeah. I think it's best that after this kraang thing, Bolt goes with her family. She's too scared to go to them so they will go to her. I'm trying to find them but I can't find them anywhere!" Crystal said. "How long has it been since Bolt left her home?" April asked. "A little over a year." Crystal said. "Let me see the laptop please." April said. Crystal handed April the laptop. April typed in a few things and in a few moments she handed the laptop back to Crystal. "That's there number." April said pointing to the screen. Crystal looked at the screen shocked. "How'd you do that?" Crystal asked. "I typed in, 'runaway girl never found after a year' and clicked enter on the google search engine. It lead me to a newpaper article and it had the home phone number on it in case someone found Bolt." April said. "Wow, thanks!" Crystal said. "No problem." April said. walking back to the dojo.

        Bolt walked out of the dojo and walked to Donnie's lab. Donnie was working on the mind control device. Donnie saw Bolt walk in. "Oh, hey Bolt. I shut off the mind control device so it won't control anyone, not that it could after you malfunctioned it but just in case." Donnie said. "Great Donnie but we need to talk." Bolt said. "About what?" Donnie asked. "About you and Crystal." Bolt said. Donnie gulped. "She told you?" Donnie asked. Bolt nodded. "Look Don, I'm not forcing you to do anything but I just want to tell you a couple of things. I know you have a crush on April. Crystal understands that but she was still upset when you told her no." Bolt said. "I didn't mean to hurt her feelings......" Donnie said. "It's okay, she totally understands." Bolt said. "Then why are you here?" Donnie asked. "I just wanted to say that, April may never ask you out, or she may never say yes IF you ask her out! When a Crystal asked you out, you said no without giving it a chance. Maybe if you said yes, you two might have been the perfect couple or you break up a day after! Or maybe you still had feelings for April and broke up with Crystal because of that. At least Crystal would understand why and wouldn't mind you breaking up with her, because you actually gave it a chance. I just think you should reconsider Crystal offer and give it a chance. If it doesn't work out at least you gave it a chance. You might not have another chance with a girl ever again." Bolt said. Donnie stayed silent. "I don't care what you do, I just thought you needed to hear that. It's your decision." Bolt said leaving the room. Donnie just sat there, and thought.

        Jane (Martin's Mom) walked into the kitchen and sat down next to her husband Walter (Martin's Father). "Martin is upset. He knows tomorrow is Phoebe's birthday and she's still not home." Jane said. Walter set down the newspaper he was reading. "I'm starting to beleive that Phoebe won't come home myself. I miss my baby girl....." Walter said. "I do too. If we weren't such horrible parents and took the hints she was giving us she would still be here. If we only paid attention too her and acted sooner." Jane said. "Well, we quit our jobs and got new ones Jane just for her. But of course she ran away before we even thought about doing that. After she said those things to us we finally changed. To bad it was a day too late." Walter sighed. "I just wish she was here......" Jane said. Then, the phone rang. Jane picked it up. She didn't recognize the number. "Hello......?"Jane asked. "Hello? Is this the Underwood family?" the person on the other line asked. It sounded like a teenage girl. "Yes. Are you looking for Martin?" Jane asked. "No. I actually called about Bolt, I mean Phoebe." The voice said. "I had enough of these prank calls! You hang up right now or so help me I will call the police!" Jane said in anger. "No! No! Please! My name is Crystal Harper! I'm Phoebe's freind! Please, I can tell you where she is!" The person on the other line said. Jane's heart spead up. "Who is it dear?" Walter asked seeing the worry in Jane's face. "This girl says she knows where Phoebe is......" Jane said. Walter stood up and grabbed the phone from his wife. "Who is this?" He asked. "My name is Crystal Harper. Is this Martin or Phoebe's father?" Crystal asked. "Father. You know where Phoebe is?" Walter asked. "Yes, I am her freind. I can tell you where she is and where you can meet her" Crystal said. "Where?!" Walter asked frantically. "Well, we're at New York City." Crystal said. "That's about......a days drive." Walter said. "Perfect! Can you meet Phoebe in front of...... the Empire State Building?" Crystal asked. "Of...of course! What time? We'll proably get there late." Walter said. "Don't worry, Phoebe will be waiting there for you at around dark. Is that good for you?" Crystal asked. "Perfect! Is Phoebe with you?" Walter asked. ".......Um........yeah.......but she can't talk right now...... I sorta didn't tell her yet. She's nervous that you guys hate her." Crystal said. "NO! Not at all! We love our little girl! Tell her that, ande that we miss her.....and love her so much......."Walter said. "Alright, see you tommorow night! Bye!" Crystal said hanging up. Walter put the phone down. "So? What happened?" Jane asked frantically. "Call Walter and quickly pack our bags......we're going to New York City......." Walter said.
