*second person Pov* -Chapter contains extreme violence-

         "Take this."

Caroline hands you back your dagger that was taken from your belt. Placing it in your hand.

You look between the weapon and her incredulously. "How-?"

"I snuck it under my shirt and told them I tossed it in the ocean," she grins smugly.

"Thanks." You accept it happily. Having a weapon again is nice.

You set it in its rightful place in its holster. You frowned at the obvious hilt sticking out. Yeah, that wasn't going to fly. You unclasped the belt that kept your dagger holster strapped to you. With some persistent wiggling, you managed to slip off the dagger holster from the belt. Hiding the dagger and it's sleeve inside one of your boots. It felt uncomfortable where it pressed into your lower leg, but it worked to conceal it.

"Are you sure about this?" Amalthea joined in.

"Nope," you answer honestly. "But what else can I do?"

Amalthea says nothing. Her face wracked with worry as she wrings her hands together. Something about that seems weird. Then you realize that in all your memories, you've never seen her this outwardly scared.

You reach out and take one of her wrists to stop her nervous tick. Offering up the best smile you can muster. "Don't worry. I'll figure something out, and get us all out of this."

She stares down at your hand for a moment before taking it in both of hers. Squeezing it tightly as she meets your eyes. "Please... come back safely."

"I will. I promise." You assure her. Even if you weren't sure if it was a promise you could keep. "You stay safe too."

"I'll look after the Cheiftess." Caroline offered.

You give her a look as you pull your hand away from your mother. You face her with a stern gaze. "You better do a better job than you did with me. Otherwise, it won't be the Agirifa you'll have to worry about."

"Duly noted," Caroline nods. "But seriously, I will do everything to keep her safe."

"I can handle myself," Amalthea objects, but her face softens into a gentle smile. "But the help is appreciated."

The sound of a key scraping into a lock stops any further conversation. The doors to the prison are opened and the woman from before is there. She takes in the scene in front of her for a moment with a blank stare. "It's time."

You let out a nervous breath, turning to the two. "I guess this is good-"

You are engulfed into a bone crushing hug by your mother. She holds you tightly. One hand gripping tight to the back of your shirt, and the other in your hair. "I love you, (Y/N)."

You return the hug, fighting back the wetness in your own eyes. Trying hard to not think how much this felt like a final goodbye. Like it was the end. Because it wasn't. You were going to see her again, even if it killed you. "I love you too, Mom."

She pulled away first, understanding the time crunch looming over your heads. Her eyes looked suspiciously shiny.

Caroline then stepped forward, offering a simple smile. "Good luck."

You nodded in response. Before forcing your feet to walk out the doors. Towards the woman who stayed silent. She didn't comment on the hug as she closed the doors behind you and locked it.
