(This is a drawing of the clothes the reader wears. I only got around to drawing it now so I'm just posting it here.)
*Astrid's POV*
The bed is really comfy. I can tell it's probably time to get up, but I don't want to. I'm having the best nights rest, and all I wanna do is savor it a bit longer. Before I'm up and doing surveillance rounds again.
Something bangs into my door. I scrunch up my face in irritation What now? Just let me sleep before I have to work today. Whatever it was messes with the doorknob a bit. It shakes as something scrapes it. Could it just please stop?!
There's a pause in its attempts. I settle back down in bed. Finally.
The door slams open. I throw my pillow over my head angrily. I swear Stormfly, if you woke me up there will be no chicken for you today! Only fish!
There is muffled whining and some roaring that isn't from Stormfly. It sounds like another dragon. The sound of claws scraping wood and heavy footsteps stomp the ground. Now that's odd...
I pull the pillow off my head and sit up. Wondering what all the commotion is about. I rub my eyes and look upon the scene.
Cobalt is in the room. His white eyes are thin slits and he's pacing around frantically. His tail whips around, sometimes bumping int the floor and creating loud thumps. His wings are slightly splayed and he keeps letting out low cries of distress.
"Hey, easy, easy." I raise my arms out to the dragon and keep my voice gentle and soothing. Cobalt calms down somewhat, but still looks panicked and is now pacing in place. He whines at me. "What is it boy? What's going on?"
Apparently he isn't in the mood for charades because he walks up to my bed and grabs the sleeve of my night shirt. I yelp as I'm literally pulled out of bed.
"You don't need to do that. I can walk on my own," I complain. Trying to pull my arm free. He doesn't let go, and pulls me through the doorway. It's a tight squeeze to get around the dragon, and my foot gets pinched in the process. "Ah! Careful!" I hiss as I hop on my other foot.
Cobalt drags me down the hallway before finally letting go of me in front of an open door. He shoves his head into my legs, forcing me into the room. "I'm going, I'm going." I tell him as I stumble into the room.
I look around and realize instantly it's (Y/N)'s room. Well, the guest room turned into (Y/N)'s room. Cobalt's saddle is even taken off and put in the corner. As he does every night to ensure his dragon is comfortable. Only, (Y/N) himself isn't here. Neither is his Guardian, Caroline and her dragon, Tawni. Tawni's saddle and Caroline's bow is gone strangely enough. Yet, Cobalt is here and very distressed.
"Where did they go?" I ask him.
He lets out a long whine and shakes his head.
"You don't know?" I try to read him.
He again shakes his head, dropping his gaze to the ground.
I frown at the bed in the room. It looks slightly rumpled. Like it had been used. So he did come here last night when we returned to the village. Maybe they left the house? Though it's incredibly strange that Cobalt was left here. (Y/N) usually went everywhere with his dragon.
"Come on, let's look for them." I speed walk back out the door. Having to squeeze past Cobalt in the hallway. That's when I realize I'm still in my night clothes. I abpruptly change my destination. "After I'm dressed."
