Lucifer paced back and forth in the small dank cell. He heard the footsteps approach his cell and knew who it was before he even saw him.
"Michael.....come to gloat no doubt."
"Not at all brother, but I knew you would end up in here soon enough. You have gotten away with too much for far too long." Michael looked in through the barred window in the thick metal door which held Lucifer. He launched himself at the door but Michael stood fast.
"What have you done with Lilith?!"
"That is none of your concern any more. She is perfectly safe.....and far away from you."
"What do you mean?"
"Her and Adam have been sent down to Earth, where I am sure they will live a long and happy life together. Looks like you cannot get everything you want Luc." Lucifer hit the door again with such force that this time, Michael did take a step back.
"Damn you! She was meant for me, not that fool!!"
"You need to control your temper brother, if you ever want to get out of here. Perhaps this time you will learn to leave the woman that is not for you alone." With that, Michael walked away, leaving Lucifer feeling alone and defeated. He sat on the uncomfortable bed and put his head in his hands.
Why was this happening? How could the others not see they were meant for each other?! His defeat very quickly turned to anger. How dare they lock him away. He was Lucifer the Archangel, Lucifer the Morning-star! He would escape and make his way down to Earth, then he would take what was his.

Lilith awoke to the sound of birds singing. Feeling disorientated, she sat up and looked around her. She was on the ground and all she could see around her was lush greenery, no sign of the palace. It was then she realised.....she was on Earth.
"Lilith, you are awake! Is it not beautiful?!" Lilith turned to see Adam practically bound towards her with the biggest grin on his face. "I suppose we were sent down here early, isn't that so lucky?!" His enthusiasm was all a bit much for Lilith, who could only nod in reply. Adam crouched down next to where she sat and cradled her face in his hands. "We are going to be so happy here."
Lilith could not stop the tears that sprang to her eyes.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, I am just so.....happy." The lie came easily to her.
"Well, how about we explore?" He stood and offered Lilith his hand. She hesitated before she took it and stood up. "Wait until you see this."
He led her through the long grass towards a dense forest. They walked through the tall trees before they came to a clearing.
Lilith could not control the gasp that escaped from her. The scene before her was breathtakingly beautiful. The lush green of it all, the clear water and all of the creatures. She had seen all of them in books, but now they were in front of her, in the flesh.
"I.....it is amazing." Adam smiled at the look of joy on her face.
"I knew you would love it."
Her joy was quickly replaced by a realisation. They had been sent here early because of her and Lucifer. Holding onto her composure, she turned to Adam.
"Would you mind if I took a little walk by myself? I just want to get used to it all." The disappointment on Adam's face was clear, but he simply nodded.
"Of course, I shall be here."
Lilith walked back the way they had come, towards the forest where she knew she would be hidden from Adam's sight. She sat down on the ground and leant back against a large gnarled oak tree. Bringing her knees to her chest, she dropped her head and begun to cry.

A short time later, she heard footsteps approaching. She wiped her face and looked up expecting to see Adam. She was shocked to see The Father standing there instead.
"My child, we need to talk." He offered her a hand. "Walk with me Lilith." She took his hand and rose from the ground. They began to walk in an unfamiliar direction. "You really are one of my most perfect creations. You are smart, kind and intelligent as well as beautiful. I understand why Lucifer would want you."
"Father, I feel such a connection to him. I did not mean to feel this way, but I am unable to help it. It is like we are both drawn to each other." He turned and gave her a sad smile.
"Lucifer is the finest angel of them all, Lilith, it is no surprise that you would feel that way for him. I also have no doubt that he feels something real for you. Unfortunately my son is a very fickle creature and I fear that once he would have you, he would soon tire of you." He gestured to their surroundings. "This is all for you and Adam. What you are both doing is the most important moment in the history of all of us. You will be starting a new world....surely that is more important than anything else....including your feelings for Lucifer."
Lilith looked to The Father with tears in her eyes. She knew that what she had been given was truly the highest honour and she wanted more than anything to please her creator. Yet, she longed for her Lucifer still. Sadly, she realised that she would not be able to see him ever again now and she had to accept her life here. So she smiled and nodded.
"Of course Father, I will not let you down."
"Thankyou child. Now, before I go, I must show you something very important." They entered another clearing, which was dominated by a single apple tree.
"This looks familiar...." said Lilith looking at the tree in puzzlement.
"It will, the exact same one stands in the palace gardens. This entire garden is yours to do with whatever you see fit. The entire garden except for this tree, do you understand?"
"Why?"
"My Lilith, always curious...but some questions do not require an answer. I just ask you to have faith." She nodded.
"Of course Father."
"Now my child, go back to Adam. You will need each other for the journey ahead." He held her face in his hands and kissed her forehead. "I love you Lilith"
"I love you too Father.....and thank you for everything."
He smiled and gestured for Lilith to walk back the way she came. She turned and began to walk back. After a few steps she turned back to where The Father was, but he had already gone.
