Lillian woke up in the early hours of the morning and wondered for a moment, where she was. As she took in the sleeping figure next to her, everything came flooding back. She had just experienced the most incredible sex of her life.....with Michael Law. What had she done?

Being as quiet as possible, she slipped out of bed and began picking up her clothes. Once dressed, she walked towards the door, but she stopped and turned to take him in one last time. She felt her heart tug at how angelic he looked. Every atom of her being wanted to take off her clothes again and slip back into bed next to him, but she knew she couldn't, this was not the type of man you wanted to get attached to.

Noticing the hotel stationary on the desk, she decided to scribble out a note to him, before gently shutting the door behind her.

A short time later, Lucifer awoke with a smile on his face. He laid his arm over the other side of the bed expecting to find Lilith there, but it was empty. He shot up in a panic.

"Lilith...Lillian!" he called out, but there was no reply. He got up to look around the large suite, but there was no sign of her. That's when he noticed the note by the door.

Michael,

Thank you for an incredible night, but I think we both know that this can't happen again.

Take care,

Lillian x

Back in her tiny studio flat, Lillian was busy berating herself. Why the hell did she get involved with Michael Law? The man who trashed her club just because she wouldn't accept his offer. She knew he wasn't a good man, so why the hell did she feel so connected to him?

A knock on her door startled her from her thoughts. There was a small part of her that hoped it was Michael, come to find her. Opening the door, she saw James stood there holding a takeout cup of coffee.

"Hey Lils, thought you could use this.....oh I got you a muffin too." he held out the cup and bag to her, she took it with a grateful smile.

"Thanks James."

"You okay Lils? You look knackered and still wearing last night's-" understanding dawned on his face and the next words were said with an edge to his voice. "Good night?" Lillian felt her frustration take over.

"Firstly, what I did last night is none of your business James. If you must know I feel asleep in my clothes and slept like shit, so I'm not in the mood okay?" She knew that she didn't have to lie, but for some reason she could not bring herself to admit what she had done. "Anyway, what are you doing here.....or is it just to bring me breakfast and tell me off?"

"I wanted to talk to you, I know things have been a bit.....awkward between us lately." Lillian softened at his words, she was taking her frustration out on him and that wasn't fair.

"I'm sorry James, there's been so much happening, I don't feel like I've had time to breathe." she fixed him with a look. "Listen, how about we chat later on in the club before we open?" James smiled tightly.

"Of course Lils, you get some rest and I'll see you later." He kissed her on the cheek and walked back down the hall. Lillian sighed and shut the door.

Not even bothering to change, she got straight into bed and fell into a restless sleep.

Lucifer sat on the bed, swigging from a bottle of scotch and re-reading Lillian's note. The rejection stung and his earlier sorrow soon turned to rage. How dare she reject him?! She belonged to him. He had watched her die over and over again, she needed to realise just how much he had been through and how much he sacrificed.
