Brexley's POV
"Joe! We've got to get going or we're going to be late!" I yell impatiently up the stairs at my twin brother. No response. "Idiot! Get down here now!"
"Chill out!" he says, coming down into the living room while fixing his bow tie. Our mom takes over as she sees this, trying to help him look his best.
"There. You guys all look great!" she says, and Joe grins.
"Always the tone of surprise," he says.
"No, just I don't get to see you dressed up too often. That's all."
Frankie arrives back at the house just then with his date, a girl his age named Emily, and we all get to know her for a few minutes. Then, after taking many pictures out in the garden, similar to first day of school pictures, we pile into the limo and head off to the dance venue.
"I can't believe Taylor is going to be at this dance," Joe says with a groan, remembering what Mom said the other night.
"It'll be fine. There will be so many other celebrities there, it won't even be an issue," Kevin says, and Joe nods in agreement.
"I know. It's just awkward."
In a few short minutes we arrive at the dance, steeling ourselves and making sure we still look good before getting out of the car. Immediately, Frankie and Emily head off to find their friends from school. Brad Pitt's kids, I think they said.
"Would you look at that, they left us in the dust already!" I joke, and Joe laughs as we follow Nick, Kevin, and Dani inside the building.
"Hey, Joe, look at this! It's your best friend!" Kevin teases with a laugh.
"Look at wha-oh, you've got to be kidding me!" Joe says, exasperated.
I look in the direction Kevin is pointing and join in his laughter. Sophie Turner, along with the rest of the Game of Thrones cast, is here. Bad luck for Joe, but a welcome surprise for everyone else.
"I'm clearly missing something here," Nick says, confused. Joe lets out a tremendous huff before launching into a short explanation of his first encounter with Sophie. By the end of it, Danielle, Kevin, Nick and I are all positively howling with laughter as Joe stands there, looking slightly annoyed.
At the sound of all of us, Sophie looks over and sees first me, then Joe. Eyes panning over to Kevin and Nick, she appears to put the pieces together in her mind and starts to make her way over to us.
"I'm not doing this again. One of you two can deal with this. I'm going to find something to drink," Joe says crossly, getting away from us as quickly as he can.
"Oh, is he going? I wanted to speak to him. I guess I'll have to find another time tonight," Sophie says, looking at Kevin and Nick once more before addressing me.
"He just went to find something to drink," I tell her, and she nods, making to head back to her coworkers before Kevin stops her.
"You're a great actress. And I'm sorry about us using Busted's songs. It was just a business deal, that's all," he explains.
"I know. I was a little harsh on your brother about it. That's what I wanted to talk to him about; I wanted to apologize. Nice meeting you all, though. I will hopefully get the pleasure again later, if I get to speak to Joe," Sophie says, leaving us as Joe comes back.
"How come she didn't yell at you guys?" Joe asks.
"She only wants to talk to you," Kevin jokes, and when Joe rolls his eyes, I intervene.
"No, seriously. She does," I say.
"Well, I'll deal with that later. Let's go dance or something," he says, pulling me out onto the dance floor as 6 Foot 7 Foot by Lil Wayne comes on.
Joe bobs his head along with the beat as he breaks out his best version of the sprinkler dance. I can't help but laugh; that's my classic brother at his finest. It would honestly concern me if he wasn't being crazy and effortlessly the life of the party. I follow along with him as Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Nick, Kevin, Danielle, and James Corden join us on the floor. When Party Rock Anthem comes on, the two of us start doing the shopping cart dance and about half the party attendees out here do the same. Then, the DJ hits us with Young, Wild & Free followed by Dynamite, which really brings down the house.
"Are you ready to talk to Sophie yet?" I ask him a little later, and he grimaces but follows me over to her.
"Sophie! Joe's here!" I call over, and she stops dancing with her friend Maisie so that she can talk.
"Hi," she says nervously, and Joe nods but says nothing, unsure of where this is going. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the way I acted on the plane. I was way out of line."
"It's no big deal. I get that Busted is your favorite band. I would be upset if someone stole my favorite band's songs too," Joe says.
"Yeah. But you guys have really great music! I listened to a few of your songs after we met the first time, and I liked them. The original ones, I mean."
"Thank you, Sophie. It means a lot."
"Maybe sometime, when you guys start performing together again, I'll come catch a concert."
"That would be awesome. Good luck with the filming of Game of Thrones! I'll be watching the show," Joe says, and Sophie nods, smiling as she returns to her friend.
He is considerably happier as we head back to our family, watching as Kevin and Danielle slow dance to Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars. We pick it up again with All Of The Lights, Super Bass, On The Floor, Safety Dance, and Good Life before calling it quits with the partying and decide to talk to Kit Harington, Mike Trout, Sean Bean, Ryan Tedder, and Conan O'Brien for the rest of the night. Then, at around midnight, we decide to leave the party for Frankie and Emily's sake, but also so Joe's luck doesn't run out on not seeing Taylor. Best not to push it.
"I'm not going to lie, I didn't wanna come tonight. But I'm really glad we did," Joe says. He's been in a great mood since making up with Sophie, and I feel a friendship coming on there. They really do have a lot in common, personality wise.
"Me too. It was actually a lot of fun," I say, and Nick agrees, settling back against the seat of the limo with a wide yawn.
"Way to bring the energy, guys!" Joe says excitedly, high fiving everyone with a giggle.
"It was great. I'm glad I came out here for it," Nick says.
"I'm glad you could, dude," Kevin says.
Usually I'm not a fan of the big celebrity parties and all that hype. But tonight was something special. Tonight was amazing, the most fun I've had in awhile. And the best part? We were all together, for the first time in I don't even know how long. We're gonna have these memories forever. And over the next few days, we're gonna make a ton more.
