Joe's POV
I open my eyes to reveal my worst nightmare; Avril Lavigne staring me right in the face.
"HELL no!" I screech at the top of my lungs, throwing myself backwards and away from the wall with such force I shoot myself onto the floor. There's a tremendous crash when I land, and, upon hearing this, Kevin comes tearing into the room.
"Joe, are you okay?" Brexley asks from across the bedroom, giggling a little as she comes over to check on me. Kevin's just standing in the doorway, laughing harder than I've seen him do for a while.
"What-how-why is there a poster of HER in my room?" I say wildly, trying to get my heart rate back to normal.
Both my siblings start laughing even more hysterically, high-fiving each other as I look back and forth between them and try to figure out what's going on. They most definitely had something to do with this.
"You've been pranked, bitch!" Kevin says happily, offering a hand and helping me to my feet before pulling me into a hug.
"Not funny," I mumble, finally able to breathe easily again.
"But genius, right?" Brexley says, hugging me after Kevin does.
"Which one of you idiots came up with this?" I ask, cracking a small smile.
"Me, duh. I never get the chance to do something like this," Brexley says.
"Yeah, I was just the helper," Kevin tells me.
"Well, Brex, you better run," I say, flashing my eyes at her.
She goes flying out of the room, me hot on her heels as Kevin cackles at the sight of us. I follow her swiftly down the stairs, both of us acting like children as I chase her around the house. Somehow, we don't care about channeling our inner five year old right now, and I'm so intent on tackling my sister onto the couch that I don't even notice the front door opening.
"Let's go! That's what you get for scaring me shitless!" I yell, successfully having accomplished my goal. Then, I look up and see Dad standing in the doorway, looking a little confused at how I'm acting right now. "Oh, hey, Dad. I didn't even know you left!"
"I had to go to the airport!" Dad responds, and Brexley stands up to face him.
"Go to the airport? Why?" she asks suspiciously.
"Hey, guys. What did I miss?" Nick asks, smiling sheepishly as he steps out from behind Dad.
"Nick? What are you doing here?" I ask, grinning from ear to ear as I go to give him a bro hug.
"Well, I couldn't miss out on a whole week of family time!" he responds.
"But I thought you were busy with your show!" Brexley says, coming over to hug him as well.
"That can wait a week. I figured I'd let the understudy have a few moments of fame," Nick says with a grin.
"Sounds like a good plan. Welcome home, buddy," Kevin says, walking downstairs to greet Nick.
"Thanks. So what was all the yelling and running around about?" Nick questions, eyeing Brexley and I.
"Kevin and Brex pranked me!" I tell him indignantly.
"How?" Nick says, an amused look on his face.
"With your stupid monstrous Avril Lavigne poster," I say sourly, and he fist bumps Kevin and Brexley.
"That's iconic," Nick laughs, and they smile.
"We thought so too," Brexley says, and I flip the three of them off individually.
"Joe!" Dad says.
"Sorry, Dad. They deserved it," I say, and he rolls his eyes and shakes his head at me.
"Come on, let's have some breakfast and then we can plan out the day."
