Brexley's POV
After the movie finishes, Danielle, Frankie, and my parents head to bed while Kevin and I decide to watch The Simpsons for a little while longer. Looking down, I realize Joe has fallen asleep on the living room floor. Perfect.
"Do you wanna help me prank him tonight?" I ask Kevin quietly, gesturing towards my twin brother. Immediately, Kev's face cracks into a grin as he nods.
"You got something in mind?" he asks me.
"Remember that huge poster of Avril Lavigne that Nick has in his room? I think we should hang it on the wall next to Joe's bed, so when he wakes up in the morning, he's freaked out," I explain.
"That's genius; he's terrified of Avril Lavigne. Actually, I feel like I did something similar when we were younger," Kevin says with a quiet laugh.
"Then it will really help this trip feel nostalgic," I say, giggling along with my elder brother.
"How are we going to get him up to bed without him noticing the poster, though?" Kevin wonders.
"Kev, you know how he is when he's tired. Sophie freaking Turner herself could lay down in his bed with him and he wouldn't even notice," I say, and Kevin shrugs.
"True. Okay, so we're doing this now, then?" he says, and I nod.
As quietly as we can, we creep upstairs and into Nick's room, spotting the poster immediately and grabbing it. Then, in mine and Joe's room, we decide to put the poster on the left side wall at Joe's eye level, so it will be the first thing he sees when he wakes up tomorrow morning. He won't be able to miss it; the thing is gigantic and literally right where his face will be.
"He's gonna freak," Kevin says with a laugh, stepping back to admire our work.
"He definitely will. That's what he gets for falling asleep during movie night, though," I say, and Kevin agrees.
"Hopefully he won't hate us," Kevin says.
"He'll be fine. He's pranked us his share of times, so it's not like this is something new," I reason.
"Just be prepared for a prank war to start, I guess," Kevin laughs, and I nod.
"Yeah. Well, I guess you could only assume that was going to happen with the three of us being under the same roof again," I say.
"I'm just glad it's only for a week. I don't know how you deal with him full time," Kevin jokes.
"Well, you know, you kind of get used to it when you are basically the same person," I say.
"Makes sense," Kevin says, and then we go back to the living room for a little while longer, since the prank is fully set up.
About an hour later, Kevin switches the tv off and stands up with a tremendous yawn. I mirror his actions, looking up at him as he talks.
"Well, I'm exhausted. I'm going to head up to bed. You need help with Joe?" he asks, and I shake my head no.
"I'll get him up there. Night, Kevin. I love you," I tell him, and he grins.
"Love you, Brex. Try to get some sleep before he wakes up the whole house in the morning," he giggles, heading upstairs to his room.
Once Kevin is gone, I prod Joe in the shoulder with my foot a few times before he slowly opens his eyes, blinking blearily.
"Everyone else is upstairs in bed already. Come on," I tell him, watching him as he groans slightly and gets to his feet, placing the blanket and pillow back on the couch. Then he totters up the stairs after me, falling into bed face down, fully clothed, and going straight back to sleep.
Rolling my eyes though I know he won't see it, I pull his bedsheets over the top of him. He gets cold easily, and I pride myself on being an overly caring sister. What can I say?
Settling into my own bed, I switch off the light and fall asleep thinking about the prank. I can't wait to see his reaction. I haven't gotten the opportunity to prank Joe in so long, and now that I finally have, I'm ecstatic.
