Day one

Why me

ERIN:
We got back from Hawaii yesterday and we had the rest of the week of including with everybody else in the unit I woke up to crying a loud screeching cry jay was still sleep so I got up to go see how it was I walked into the twin's room and it was Levi and Madison cry so I picked Madison up and she was really worn and was Levi and I put then back in their cribs once they were settled but I still herd crying so I want into Liam room but he was sound asleep so I went into Noah room and he was crying so I picked him up and he was also pretty hot and then I realized my worst fear was happening I had a house full of sick children and it was a matter time before Jay because he catches everything. I got the thermometer and checked nose temperature first since he was in my arms.............. he had a fever of 103 so I settled him down gave him a sippy cup full of milk and laid him back down in his bed but I knew it was only a matter of time before he became fussy again. I check the twin and they had a fever of 105  and at that point, I want to go wake up to jay

E: Jay wake up now
J: Erin baby what wrong
E: Jay we need to go to the hospital now
J: why what wrong
E: the twins have a fever of 105 I don't think that is safe for them and Noah has a fever of 103  I just why you be safe
J: what about Lima baby
E: he sleeps I don't check hi and I'm going to say this now you catch everything you are not allowed to get sick
J: Cope that. I'll get hank to come to watch Liam

H: Jay what up
J: I need you to watch Liam for us you need to take the twins and Noah to the hospital
H: what I will be right over

(AT CHICAGO MED)
W: hey erin  we have a room set up to give you guy some privacy Natalie will be here in a minute
E: ok thx
(10 minutes later) 
N: ok Noah good jay seems like he got a bit of a cold and a small fever he could have picked up from being out of town we're gonna run a few tests just in case. Same with the twins your fever is a little high for their age so we're gonna keep them until it goes down just to be safe and make sure that nothing else going on but they both seem like they have a nasty cold
J: so the twins will be ok through right 
W: yes they will it just they have a fever of 105  that can be fatal for their age and unsafe we what to wait until it goes down if it doesn't go down in the next hour or two then we will give them some Tylenol see if that helps
E: what happens if the Tylenol doesn't work
N:  well if It doesn't and their fever continues to rise their heart starts to race  witch is going to call their bodies to work overtime just to help them Breath and even their hart and organs will be under so much stress that they will give and their hart will stop
E: OMG OMG! I say cry at this point
W: hey we are going to do everything we can and for right now they are very much stable which is a good thing that we're gonna do everything we  can we will leave you guy and I'll be back to check on you guy in an hour 
J: hey thx
W: ya
E: Jay w-we
J: Erin don't you dare say it they are going to be frond they are going to make it ok relax they need you, ok you can't freak out
E: how am I not supposed to freaking just been told that I could lose my baby if their fever don't drop
J: but they will I promise I'll call hank and update him we didn't get back in Chicago until 3:3" In the morning baby ok the kids are sleep try to get some sleep ok

J: sleep ok tell that pretty little head of yours so stop worrying and stop scaring yourself

J: cough cough
E: Jay what did I tell you you are not allowed to leave me with 3 sick children and a sick husband
J: Erin it just a cough ok I'm not getting sick
W: hey you two nat is dealing with another patient at the moment so you are stuck with me
E: Is that supposed to be a bad thing
J: you're supposed to say boohoo
W: oh whatever at least your wife likes me
J: that's because she wasn't born in our family if she was she agree with me
E: um I'm ok with that because if I was born then we wouldn't have beautiful children and I would not have a wonderful husband

W: ok you two get a room
J: we already have one
W: Jay I will sedate you
J: and I will shoot you
E: ok ok ok you two will what did you come here for
W: to check one, my nephews and niece............... Well I have the good nose the twin's fever has gone down to 101 so they are perfectly fine to go home
E: ok what about Noah
W: Jay can I talk to you outside the room
E: Jay what the hell going on
J: Erin kids
W: we will be right back erin don't worry

J: ok what is it
W: I did not want to scare her but Noah there has got up and right now his breathing is pretty shallow which is why he's been sleeping this hold time I'm going to hook him up to an Iv so we can get some fluid into him and start some kid Tylenol as well the best thing for you guy to do is to stay calm the twin still have a minor fever so I wouldn't recommend people just yet but I think it would be a good idea for you to call hank or Hailey someone to come get them
J: ok
W: I'll be back

E: Jay what wrong
J: I'm going to call hank to have him come get the twin
E: Jay don't do that ok he my sone two I am the one that was in labor with him for 15 hours so I have the right to know what the hell is going on and don't you dare Erin me
J: ok your right but I want the twins at home first ok
E: no jay if something wrong with our son the I need to know ok doesn't do this to me
J: ok ok Noah fever has gone up and he, not breath that well will be going to give him an iv and sometimes Tylenol see if they can get it down he said that is might be a good idea to call hank or Hailey and have one of them take the twins and because they still have a minor fever and a cold it a good idea that we don't send them home with Kim or Adam
E: omg what do you mean her barely breathing
J: he does not look to good right now we are going to do everything he can
W: hey I promise you he will be annoying bouncing around the walls by tomorrow ok we just to stabilizer him jay can you had me the oxygen mask
J: ya
E: ok ok I'm going to call hank to have him come get them

H: hey erin how are they
E: the twins are fine I need you to come to get them Noah is not doing so well I say trying to hold back tears
H: ok kid breath He going to be fine
E: dad that what everyone keeps saying but what if it not I know that will can only do so much he only 2
H: hey you need to trust that he will make it through this I'm on my way and your some need you so stay strong for him
E: ok
W: hey so the test results are in for the twins and Noah the twins are good it just a cold but Noah has diabetes witch is why he having a hard time fight off the fever I'm going to give him some insulin and some antibiotics to help with the fever at well once he is stable enough I'll walk you things that you guys could do and how to give him his insulin
J: ok
E: uh how did we let this happen
W: there's nothing you could've done to stop this just happened some babies are even born with it this is not your fault or anyone Else is far is just a part of life it's something that happens he will be just fine as long as he gets his insulin
E: ok ok you right
H: hey kid Natalie told me were you guy where
E: hey Noah has diabetes which is why it been so hard to get his fever to go done is ya at this pot crying
H: hey remember what I said I know you're scared but your son needs you, ok you can't freak out right now ok he going be fine you are letting your anxiety and emotions get the best of you ok

W: ok the good thing is the antibiotics seem to be taking effect

W: hey guy I'm here to check on Noah see how he doing
J: ok
W: well his fever is practically gone he still may fell I but off but he ok to go home for the rest of the day he needs to use much rest as he can and you need his In the morning when he wakes up and at much at right be for bed he has type 1 you will also need to check his blood sugar levels before he eats if it's low the. He needs something sweet to eat and then about an hour after that give him a bit of The first few days I'll come over and give it to show me exactly where to give it to

H: hey they let him go
E: ya he does not have a fever anymore and for the first couple days was gonna come over and show us how to give him his insulin
J: I'm going to go put him down in his room
H: ok so how are you felling
E: better I mean your right my kid needs me to be strong
H: they do but that does not Chang that fact you're scared for them
E: ya tell me about it where are the twins
H: in their room sleeping and Liam has been playing video games all-day
