"There you are! I have been looking for you in the morning. I have searched everywhere in this city almost. But, you have locked up yourself here sitting on this bench again, in this park, that too under the rain? Ah! It's chilling out here. The rain has stopped but you didn't stop. What are you doing? What happened to your phone? What are you up to?"
The way Max asking question after the question, seems clear, how mad he is at me right now. But I didn't dare to show my face.
"Are you hearing? Your sister is worrying and keeps on calling to talk to you. Dany is struggling to clear your name. Chris collecting the shreds of evidence to help you out from blame. Richie trying his best to get back yours' and your company's fame. They took you as their ideal being and learned to treat problems as challenges to prove themselves strong."
I slowly turn my head slightly. I'm able to glimpse Max but still, I continue my silence.
"Nick? I'm talking with you, damn it. Will you say anything?" He converts himself enraged this time.
"It is not that fateful day that may change my life." Finally, I spell something subtle.
Hearing my fragile voice, he comes near and locked me in his arms. The warmth of my fallen tears on his hand touches his heart.
"I know you very well since our childhood, Nick. You overcome so many impediments both in person and in profession till now, but I never saw you cry like this. Is there anything bothering you? You can share it with me."
I remembered these words, when I'm eight and sad as well. He's always with me since then. I take off his hands and turn to have my arms around him until I become free from my pain. He taps on my back to comfort me.
"In childhood, I don't know how to console you, when you are sad. But now I'm with you, Nick." He comforts.
"She dumps me, Nick. I can't get her out of my mind but after hearing to her words. I...I..." again my eyes let the water out.
He comforts me gently in his arms. "Sorry to say but I'm never wrong. Nor am I ever surprised, if she did this to you. I've doubted on her the day when I saw her." He consoles me.
"Damn, I hate to see her go, but like to stay calm and watch her leave after realizing that she's not into me but money instead."
"Nick! Look at me." He places his hands on my face. "There is a famous saying, "Man's loyalty comes out when a woman has nothing and woman's loyalty comes out when a man has nothing". So, no need to waste your precious time for the disloyal persons like her."
"Hmmm...." I try to shrink my tears.
"Just Promise me, Nick, you'll do your best in order to go back to how you are previously," Max asks me.
"Hmm...." I give a gloomily reply. He sweeps my tears and tries to cheer me up.
"Nick, I forgot to say, uncle James wants me to inform you earlier. You have to go home and get ready for the business meeting, which was arranged by your dad. I think for your signature as an heir of Harris groups of company," he says.
I know he is diverting me. I swallow my pain and answer him, "Why doesn't he send the file like how he used to do all the time?"
"I don't have any idea. Maybe the clients want to meet you." He guesses.
"Then why don't he inform me directly?"
"Is that a joke? Am I supposed to laugh now? Your phone is still switched off. Hey! Wait. When did you start answering your dad's calls?" He mockingly asks me.
