"The most beautiful people I've known are those who have known trials, have known struggles, have known loss, and have found their way out of the depths."

– Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

Eli swept the sweat off his forehead with his hand as he ascends the steps on Eve's porch. There are broken shards of glass laying underneath the sun, reflecting a beacon of where the incident occurred. His heart is beating with poison in his veins. The door flung open as Raven leaps into his arms. "Thank god, you're here!" She says.

"I'm going to call the cops on that mother fucker, Eli, I swear." Eve yells. "You know he was at the Halloween party too. He's been sneaking around here. DeeDee mentioned someone looking for the owners. He is too big of a pussy to do anything there with everyone. He waits like a snake."

"Calm down, Sis. We don't want the police around here. I can handle this." Eli assures her. His arms are wrapping around Raven's waist and then he rubs her stomach. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"I am."

"You didn't mention he was crazy."

"I didn't know he would act out like that. He had a ball bat and everything. What the hell did he think I would do, run into his arms?"

"That new Facebook, I guarantee he's seen everything we have and got jealous. It happens."

"No," Raven says. "He beat the fuck out of the house. He's a lunatic."

"I don't disagree with you."

Eli feels the world on his shoulders, the need to be a protector, and that eerie feeling of eyes all over him. No one is allowed to come here like that. I'll make sure it never happens again.

Blair steps out of the house with her arms crossed. She is shaking from the experience, hair swept behind her head, red eyed. "I thought we was going to die."

"Guys, don't call the police," Eli says as he takes a seat on the porch steps. He shakes his head as his as he understands the circumstances that have befell him. "He will most certainly be back. With what next time? A gun. A jug of gas. I know what to do but I'm not telling you guys. Please, go in the house and relax."

"Don't play games Eli." Raven states while arching her eyebrows. "Don't do something you'll regret. It's not worth it. Not over Leo."

"The only thing I'm regretting right now is I didn't see this coming." Eli stands up and spits on the ground."

"Please!" Blair says. "Let's let the police deal with it."

"I seriously doubt that will help, considering we don't even have camera's around here. Eve, do me a favor. Can you look up some kind of security company? We will have that done immediately. No reason to wait for another problem."

"Okay, bub." Eve produces her phone and starts thumbing through the search engine. "Do you want me to call them?"

"Sure." Eli kicks the gravels. "I have an idea. You said he was at the Halloween party and then just showed up here?"

"Yeah."

"I would guess he's staying in one of the motels or something. I don't see him parking on the side of the road or driving a thousand miles both ways to be here for ten minutes. He's close. So, I'm going to find him."

"What are you gonna do?" Raven grabs his arm.

"Like I said, it's best that you not know. But I need to go. I love you."
