"Probably the reason we all go so haywire at Christmas time with the endless unrestrained and often silly buying of gifts is that we don't quite know how to put our love into words."
-Harlan Miller
The snow grew heavily on the porch, and scattering sheets of thick snow slowly floats through the midnight air. "Tis the season," Ocean cracks up. The living room is lit by quaint firelight, as the flames lap and embers settle at the bottom of the fireplace. It is a slow crackling of the blocks of wood, beset by the faces of several cold people, wrapping up in blankets. Raven sits on top of Eli in the recliner, they are bundling up under a blanket, with his arms stretching taut around her waist. He is semi-hard when Raven says, "I can't believe the power isn't back on yet."
"I'm tore up it had to go off tonight," Evelyn says with her legs tosses across Luke on the sofa couch. They're heads touching on the sides, warm and cuddling.
"It happens," Luke says. "You know what that's a sign of."
"A sign of what?" Eve asks as she throws her shoulder against his face.
"That's a sign of three hellions, doll. Harley, Hadley, and Jasper."
"Hush, you made that up," Eve chants. "Our babies aren't cursed."
"Two cursed boys and a girl, man."
Eli laughs with Raven on top of him, the thickness of her ass rubs against him in a way that is both warm and inviting. There's a reason you are pregnant. He thought to himself. Raven notices how he is semi-hard, and grins to herself, trying to cover her smile with her little hand,
"Anyway, these are blessed children." Raven chanted. "They have the best home, the best parents, and the best future."
"Of that," Eli enters, "I have no doubt."
There is plenty of heat resonating from the open flame, but Ocean shivers still yet. She protests how cold she is when she slumps down into the floor and scoots closer to the warmth. A blizzard on a new scale rages just outside those walls. And, if this was another time, The Layton's would be freezing to death - probably. Eli entertains the thought as he is playing with Raven's curls, particularly the one that is strewn down the edge of her face. He tugs it, smiles, tugs it again. The fire reflecting in her sand colored eyes like orbs of golden brown.
Blair, however, has disappears momentarily in the back of the room. Her phone has died in her hands, and even though there wasn't any power yet, she put it on charge anyway. "This fucking blows, guys."
"You fucking blow," Raven cracks up at her and stuck a thin middle finger up, her tongue slides out of her mouth sideways, and her eyes cross. "You suck, suck long time."
"Lord, Rave. Shut the fuck." Blair chimes with her middle finger raising high.
"We are certainly a group of type-A personalities. The kids will benefit." Eli says with contentment in his rolling jaw and sharp eyes. "Definitely."
Luke looks over to Eli with a cunning grin, "How do you like being a father already. Little Elijah. I like the name; it almost sounds like Eli." He asks sarcastically.
"That was the idea honestly." Raven answers. "Even though Eli and I wasn't together, we were always still together. I don't know, I guess I'm a spiritual person like that. I don't really believe in God but I guess that doesn't have anything to do with it. Somehow it is just meant to be."
"That's a beautiful way to look at it," Luke shifts and smiles. "Eve never says those things."
"We met at a bar dick, not when we were children." Evelyn shouts with flare in her voice. Everyone begins laughing and looks at each other. It is like the laughter makes everyone sink deeper into each other, the warmth of their bodies keeping them their heart alight. Blair keeps looking down at Ocean, her dark hair set orange against the constant flame. Blair stands up and walks over to Ocean, whose hands are burying in her face.
