Hyunjin stared at the screen that illuminated his bedroom. As time passed slowly, the sun sat and the night took over. The boy felt his mouth go dry by the question.

Was he depressed?

What is depression?

Dark thoughts appeared inside his mind, fogging everything and not letting the positivity of the sun peak through. It was grey. You couldn't get through it.

A soft knock was heard and the door opened. Hyunjin's father stood there with a soft smile on his face, kind eyes looking at his son.

"I'm not working tonight so I made dinner for us. Can you come down to eat together?" He asked in a soothing voice. Hyunjin nodded with a grim expression on his face and got up to follow his father downstairs, forgetting about the answer for Seungmin.

Father and son sat in front of each other, eating in silence. The older male made his infamous dish that his wife once called "Hero's soup". It was Hyunjin's favorite also, perfectly spicy but sweet at the same time.

His father was a great cook, unlike him. The memories of trying to help the young boy making something easy were on his mind. He chuckled a little.

Hyunjin raised his head up, shooting a questioning look at his father. "What are you laughing about?"

The older Hwang cleared his throat and wiped his mouth, finished with his dinner. "I just thought about the times when you were younger and we tried to teach you how to cook. It was a complete disaster, the food exploded in the oven and we had to buy a new one. Oh and your friend, Felix was there too if I remember correctly."

Hyunjin just tilted his head slightly, slowly recalling the event. The name Felix triggered something inside him, pure emptiness took place in his heart. His face was unreadable.

His father of course noticed that. He was worried for his son, he wanted to be there for him but it wasn't that easy.

Hyunjin didn't let anyone near him emotionally as the years went by. Although, a year ago it worsened noticeably.

He recalled when Felix came downstairs, he had invited him to stay for dinner. Hyunjin's father sensed that something happened between the two boys when Felix stuttered about hurrying back home because of homework. It made him slightly disappointed.

"Thank you for the food dad, I'm going to sleep. Goodnight." And with that, he left to be in his dark room, alone with his miserable self.

The older watched him helplessly, thinking about going after him but he realized that no matter what, he won't pressure his son into talking about something he doesn't want to.

With a sad sigh, he just let him go.
