Chapter 12: Funeral?

Tony was sat down in the lab answering some important emails when he got a call from one of the social workers who was helping with Peters situation. He frowned before answering, wondering what this call was about. "Hello, Start speaking." "Hello Mr Stark, I'm calling you because we need to discuss when you plan to have the funeral for Miss May Parker. I understand this is hard time for you both, however we must set a date since there are going to be investigations on her murder." Oh yeah, Tony thought. He hadn't even thought about the fact that there was a killer out there who hurt someone close to Peter, what if they wanted him next?

"Oh yes i'm sorry, could we possibly have today to figure this out? We haven't talked about it yet so I could give you call in a couple of days?" he said. "Of course Mr Stark, you will also recieve a call from Queens Police Department to talk about conducting an investigation. I believe they already have a few leads and it's important we find this person as soon as possible." "Yes of course." Tony replied. "Thank you for your time Mr Stark. I am truly sorry for your lose." She then hung up leaving Tony to think.

Peter was sat down watching TV when he sensed someone enter the room, turning around, he noticed that it was just Tony. "Oh hey Mr Stark" he said while walking over to the man, who was busy on his phone. "Hey Pete, listen I need to talk to you quickly." he said. Peter frowned but nodded walking with him to sit down. "Look, I got a call from your social worker and we need to discuss plans for your Aunts Funeral." Peter was silent for a minute before looking at the man with sad eyes, "Funeral?"

"Yes, I know it's hard but it has to be organised. We want her to have a proper send off." Peter just nodded, not trusting his voice. Tony carefully took the boys hands into his own and spoke softly, "They also need to talk to both of us about investigations on who did this." A tear slipped down the boys cheek and he nodded again, resting his head on Tonys shoulder and allowing himself to be held.

After dicussing a time and date for the funeral, in 2 weeks, they both relaxed watching TV and were eventually joined by Bruce, Steve, Bucky and Nat, who made themself comfortable. Peter could feel Tony tense slightly when Steve entered and discretely grabbed the mans hand, just for comfort, just so he knew that he was safe. He felt Tony relax and smiled knowing his attempt at comfort worked.

They spent the next hour relaxing until Tony recieved the call and went to answer. "Hello?" he said. "Hello Mr Stark, I assume you understand why we are calling you?" "Yes I do" he said while sitting down on his chair. "We wish to discuss with both you and Mr Parker, the situation regarding Miss Parker. We need to gather as much information as possible to be able to find out any threats, or possible reasons as to why she was killed. I was hoping we would be able to scheduele a meeting in the next few days to discuss this." Tony took a few seconds to take this all in, he knew Peter would have to talk at some point but, was he ready? "Yeah, yes that's fine. Um, how about.." he checked his phone, Saturday, "Monday?" "Yes that's fine Mr Stark, i'll make a meeting at 3:00pm. Thank you for your time sir."

Once the call was finished he headed back to sit down next to Peter, who immediately snuggled into his side when he sat down. "H-how was i-it?" he said in a nervous, quiet voice. Tony ran his hands through the boys hair to sooth him, "Don't worry buddie. I got it all worked out." Peter hummed and turned his attention back to the TV, oblivious of all the soft the smiles on everyone elses faces. The kind hands in his hair, the soft buzz of the TV in the background slowly began to lull him to sleep, his eyes slipped shut and he let himself rest.
