The chapter name is so random cause I didn't know what to call it so idek what thats supposed to mean 🤦‍♀️ Enjoyyyyy

Sometimes I wished I was a horse. Not because I wanted to eat hay or live in a shack. But because they had it so easy. I bet Bambi was never gonna fall into a random tomb and then be told he was the king of the horsies. So why did that have to happen to me?!

It wasn't fair and that's what I persistently told Forrest as we paced outside the door of the throne room. Well... I paced, and Forrest just laughed at me, his multicoloured eyes watching my fidgeting hands in amusement from beneath his thick brown hair.

"I can't do this."

"Yes you can." The small boy sang in reply. "And even if you can't you kinda don't have a choice."

"Urgh." I whined, stomping my foot dramatically before turning on my heel and pacing around again.

Forrest giggled and stepped off the wall, moving towards the door to peek into the room where everyone was getting seated. "Ooo scary."

I rolled my eyes and tried to ignore him. It was gonna be fine, Ant would be there. Robbie, Tristan and Johnathan would be there. My Mam would be there. All I had to do was sit and eat and remember everything Ant had spent hours trying to teach me.

"Huh." Forrest huffed.

"What?" I asked curiously, my hands falling from my hips as I looked at the gardeners back while he spied on the occupants of the room.

"It's just the north and south have kind of split the room in half. I wonder if that was planned."

I went to speak but a deep voice filled the silence, "It wasn't, but it is on purpose. My soldiers have lost their fathers and brothers in the recent wars against this kingdom. Intermingling is not exactly an option for many of them."

I turned quickly to see Ant strut along the corridor, followed by a formal looking man dressed all in black. The Prince was wearing formal dress with the golden crest of the north pressed on his white shirt which struck out against his black trousers and jet black hair. He still had his sword attached at his hip which I thought seemed kinda unnecessary but then I couldn't imagine him without it.

What always struck me deeply and I have no idea why - perhaps because it was a rare sight - was the crown that sat atop his head naturally. He looked regal and most of all, powerful. I looked down at myself, I wore a black dress pants too, but my tunic was light blue with delicate black patterns. I looked like a decorated vase. Ant looked strong and masculine, I looked fragile and it'll only take seconds for everyone to realise how weak I am compared to him. I couldn't even pretend to be the type of Prince Ant was.

"You okay?"

I snapped out of my thoughts and looked up quickly when I realised Anth was stood infront of me, his deep sea eyes flickering between mine with concern.

I swallowed thickly and nodded. Forrest let out an amused scoff so I shot him a glare which probably wasn't as threatening as I intended it to be.

The dark haired Prince chuckled and reached to organise my messy hair but I was pretty sure it was a lost cause. It had grown out since those ladies had cleaned and chopped it so my bangs sorta dropped over my eyes a little.

"You look stunning, all dressed up like this." Ant whispered and I flushed red, the room suddenly becoming considerably hotter. I reached to tug at the little scarf around my neck only to realise Anne had kind of forbidden me from wearing it at social events and promised to get me a nice new silk one.
