Sorry this took so long guys 🙈

^Ain't he the cutest

Love you all and don't hate me for this ❤️

"If you think you can just waltz into a black army camp with one of their soldiers captured and leave with your head you've got another thing coming jackass."

I giggled at the soldiers constant threatening and continued walking along side Lyla's horse with its bridle held in my hand for her safety.

My gaze flickered up beside me to Ant who was riding on a honey coloured horse with the bald, corrupt soldier tied up behind him. The prince gave me a knowing smug look before facing forward with a smirk.

"Where next." He ordered deeply and the soldier spat, glaring daggers into the dark haired man's back as he stumbled along, pulled mercilessly by the rope around his wrist.

"Take the left hand path at the fork in the road, couple of hundred yards and we'll be there."

"Good. When we get there, don't draw attention to yourself or I'll ride full speed to your commanding officer with your battered body dragging along behind my horse."

I thought that was a bit graphic of Ant but brushed it off and looked beside me at Anne-Marie who was walking along quietly to my left. The young lass still seemed a little shaken up, hugging herself closely

"You okay?" I asked her gently, threading my hand with hers.

"Yeah... I am now, thanks... just still in shock I guess."

At Anne-Marie's shaky words, Ant brought his horse to a steady stop and hung his head. After a long sigh, he spoke, "I would have never let them hurt you Anne."

"Can't you see you've already hurt her?!" Layla butted in and Ant ran a guilty hand through his hair, pulling at the dark strands.

"Nana! Stop it! That's not right and you know it. He fought for me."

"He fought for himself." She spat and I felt my anger rise slightly.

"Ma'am I know you don't like Ant much but I think you're being a bit harsh."

The old lady backed off a little? looking a bit guilt. The Prince shot me a grateful smile but I shrugged and turned away with a grumpy look on my face which made him frown. After a moment of silence, the taller man spoke up as if he felt he should still apologise.

"It was never my intention to get any of you dragged into my messes. I'm sorry for all I put you through but I'm hoping by you both being with us I can make it up to you."

"I don't see how riding us to our deaths is making amends but men have always had a messed up way of thinking." I cringed a bit at Layla's constant hostility towards men, especially Ant but I had a feeling she had her reasons and some of that anger on the dark haired man was justified.

However in this case I was on Ants side completely, he'd never let that fight get out of hand. He never let his guard down because he new the risk. When he'd stepped into the middle of those men I'd been scared, but then after he'd taken on the fat one who'd manhandled Anne-Marie and cut off his hand within seconds of the man attacking, I suddenly realised I should be scared for the soldiers, not the Prince.

The whole village, even Dermott, had gathered to watch and I'd stood by Layla's side, ready just in case something bad had happened although if my money was gonna go on any one winning, it was the prince who was outnumbered 5 to 1. He hadn't been lying when he said he was bred to fight, you could see it in the way he moved, it was all natural. He was working off muscle memory, using skills that had been drilled into him since he was a kid.
