Why does Dec have to look so bloody cute in literally every photo?!
Despite the name this is not heavily smutty chapter but there is a mature scene which had been marked and labelled. Please enjoy ❤️
"B-but how does the baby eat? When it's inside the mummy?"
"It eats what its mother eats."
I blinked at Ant, "But that's a bit greedy! And gross. How come the mother doesn't just starve if she's gotta share? And what if the baby doesn't like the taste?"
"I don't think it does taste at that age Declan." Robbie pitched in, amusement twinkling in his eyes as he looked back to me from his horse.
I pouted, "how'd you know?" My attention turned back to Anth, speeding Bambi up a little having fallen behind, "Do you remember being that little Anth?"
Ant chuckled, "No Declan... I don't remember."
"Why not?"
"Well can you?"
"No... but why not?"
"I think it's cause our brains were too small back then." Stephen concluded looking up at us from where he was sat on the back of the wagon. He didn't like horse riding.
I nodded, that made sense. "BUT how come we can remember how to talk? F-from when we were little."
Vul groaned and dropped his head onto my shoulder, "Do you ever stop asking questions?"
I frowned, fiddling with the reigns in my hands, "Just curious."
"It's okay Declan, it's good to ask questions. It's how you get smarter."
I beamed, the Prince's stern words making me feel better. If Ant said it was okay, then it was, he always said I was a smart boy.
"Where do babies even come out? Doesn't it hurt the woman."
"Well they sure do cry a lot about it." Tristan snickered and Hugo growled lowly from the front of the wagon, speaking up for the first time since we'd left the rebellion camp.
"It's more pain than a mere man could fathom, young Prince." He said, addressing me but aiming his words at the knights.
"Well..." Robbie decided to argue, "Women are fragile creatures, they are probably very sensitive to the pain."
"Push a human child from your behind sir Williams and you may then call a woman sensitive. Until then, I suggest you hold your tongue. Women are multitudes stronger and wiser than us, it is why we must protect them. And they only let us because they know we need some kind of purpose to maintain our sanity."
Ant and I beamed at Sir Hugo and then at Robbies guilty look.
"Told you he'd be useful." I snickered to Ant who rolled his eyes. The army head hadn't wanted to bring the older man, since he was still recovering from injury. But no one knew the south like he did. We needed a guide to get there safely since Ant insisted on travelling with such a small company of men.
"He certainly reduces the level of stupidity on the mission." Anthony agreed, receiving a glare from both his men and a deep chuckle from Hugo. I giggled, my eyes flickering up at the sky. We'd been on the road for most of the day, making good progress, we had probably a couple more days ride before we reached the capital but the southern sun was slowly disappearing.
