Hello lovely people! I literally can't believe it's been a month since my last update, it doesn't feel like it at all I've been so busy. Time flys ay? Anyway thanks to everyone who's commented on my other stories and one shots, keeping me motivated. This chapter is wildly different to my first attempt and I dunno if I'm 100% happy with it so let us know what you think 🥰❤️
I can't remember why I called it 'daydream believer' btw 😂
It was my first time sat in a throne. In fact it was my first time seeing a real throne up close. Ant had always sat in throne like chairs, especially when he was in Prince mode, but I instantly realised they were a pale imitation of an actual throne.
When I entered the throne room for the meetings in the afternoon, my eyes had instantly been drawn to it. At first I thought it was just wooden, but beautifully carved with vines which folded into flowers and the powerful distinction of a lions head roaring above the headrest.
I had taken a shaky breath and followed Hugo's lead as he walked me through the empty room. Beside the throne, was a slightly more eloquent smaller throne and I decided quickly I would much rather be sat in that one.
The lion one seemed too important.
Ember and Forrest walked behind me but stopped before they had reached the few steps which elevated the stage like area that Hugo started for. As soon as I felt their presence leave me, I stopped and turned, wanting to stay back with them but Hugo's voice coaxed me from my daydreams.
"Sire, you asked to do this before everyone arrived.... I'm afraid we don't have long now."
I let out a shaky breath and nodded meekly, smiling at Forrest who gave me two cheeky thumbs up with his tongue sticking excitedly out of the corner of his mouth.
As I twisted back around, one foot poised on the last of the three steps, but not quite committed to going up, I finally noticed that the throne was not just wooden. Instead the wood was just a mould and within the curves and dips laced a beautiful silver and gold stream of thin metal. With Two emerald stones pinned as the eyes of the Lion. My father had had green eyes apparently... perhaps it was common in my family.
I thought it fitting, when I saw my father's paintings and sculptures or heard stories about him. I knew he had the heart of a lion. The boldness of one and a brave heart of pure gold.
And when I was close to Ant I felt the rebellious temperament and stubbornness of an unbroken stallion, the desire to run free as well as loyalty to his loved ones in the face of any danger.
I didn't feel like I fit even part of the description for what my great family represented and I blamed that on my upbringing. Maybe if I had been taught to fight, taught to lead and make decisions. Maybe if I was taught to be brave then I'd have the heart of a lion just like the Good King Alphonsus.
Maybe I'd be worthy of my people's respect.
I was snapped from my thoughts the moment the giant oak doors plundered open through the silence and heavy feet dragged into the room.
My eyes shot around to locate the intruders and I felt my body relax as soon as I realised it was Ant. He had Robbie and Tristan a step back but walking either side of him while Johnathan wandered behind on his cane tensely. He seemed able to keep up, but unhappy about being there.
"Anth!" I grinned, forgetting completely about my previous upset and running straight down the stairs towards him, jumping into his arms as if I hadn't been sleeping in them that same morning
Ant chuckled and hugged me back tightly, plopping me back down on my feet so I could look up at the tall row of knights and waved at Johnathan who moved unsteadily to Tristan's side.
