My 100% asymptomatic boyfriend's COVID-19 test came back positive a few days after I left his house.
While I haven't been tested, I'm 1000% sure I was infected at one point. I had extremely mild symptoms that I didn't even consider until my boyfriend's test came back positive.
A week before I left, around early to mid July, I was feeling unusually warm. I had one short-lived migraine (see "The Eye of the Storm") and woke up one morning feeling slightly drained, like I didn't get enough rest. I also had a slightly scratchy throat for about two days, which I attributed to the dry air in my boyfriend's room. The symptoms were so subtle, like everyday aches and pains, so I didn't worry too much about them. But they did make me feel uncomfortable.
One night I told my boyfriend that I was feeling "a little under the weather" and that I might've been iron deficient. I was experiencing fatigue and malaise, two symptoms of iron deficiency. At one point I actually did suspect COVID-19, but my boyfriend assured me that there was no likely way that I could've gotten it. We'd only left the house once to jog with his friend. (In hindsight, that was not a good choice.) He calmed me down, and I instantly felt better.
My boyfriend meant well. I'm a hypochondriac and have been convincing myself that I was infected with COVID-19 since first hearing about the virus in January. He's always been there to assure me that my symptoms were in my head. This time, however, I really did have it!
About a week later, after I'd returned home, my boyfriend took a COVID-19 test. He had planned to attend his school's head-start program for incoming freshmen, and he needed confirmation that he was free of COVID-19 before attending the program. He took the test a week before his scheduled flight, and the results were not released until the day of the flight, just minutes before boarding! He called me immediately after receiving his results and told me the shocking news: he tested positive.
God, he sounded so disappointed and broken. He was looking forward to attending this program only for his plans to crumble in minutes. He and his dad rushed to get their bags off the plane and left the airport shortly after.
Oops! I never finished this entry. Posting anyway.
