Chapter 15

Sam's POV
We found Nicole and Matt out on the street. He was unconscious and his head was bleeding. Nicole was crying trying to wake him up. He just made her mad and she still cared about him. Why? When we get to the hospital Nicole followed Matt until she couldn't go any further. Nicole really cared for Matt but sometimes he treats her badly. Like when I asked her to be my girlfriend.

"Hey come and rest for a second. You've been waiting for a few hours." I say walking over to Nicole. She was still upset. Her eyes were bloodshot and puffy. Her silent cries made me feel terrible. I help her up and we walk back to the waiting room with the rest of the boys. When I sit on the couch Nicole snuggles next to me and gets comfy. I wrap my arm around her to keep her warm and to make sure she's okay. The other boys decide to form a circle so we could be closer and talk.
"I feel so bad for Matt." Carter says.
"He did the heroic thing and he got hurt for it." Nash says quietly.
"That's Matt for you. Trying to be everyone's superhero." Aaron adds on to what Nash said.
"But you guys are wrong." Nicole says quietly.
"What do you mean were wrong? Matt saved your damn life." Nash says getting angry.
"He saved me." She says. I was confused by what she was saying.
"Exactly. He saved your life and your saying he's not a hero for that?" Nash asks raising his voice. Hayes looks at Nash scared and Nicole nods.
"Like I said, he saved me." She says emphasizing the word 'me.' Nicole then gets up and walks out of the waiting room. What did she mean? He saved her and he wasn't a hero for it? We all sit there and try to think about what she meant.
"Oh my god." Hayes says after a good five minutes of silence.
"What is it?" Jack J asks.
"She said he wasn't a hero correct?" He asks. We all nod. "She's saying he's not a hero because he saved her."
"Well no shit. We all heard her say that." Taylor remarks.
"No she's saying that he would be a hero if it was anyone else. She doesn't think she's worth saving so he's not a hero because she doesn't mean anything." Hayes says to us. He was a genius.
"I actually think that's what she meant." Shawn says looking at Hayes then at me.
"I need to find her." I say getting up quickly and running in the direction where Nicole left.

When I find Nicole she was outside sitting on a bench talking on the phone.
"I told you this would happen!" She shouts.

Silence.

"I knew someone would get hurt!" She says her voice quivering.

More silence.

"Yes he saved me but I'm not worth it! He shouldn't have pushed me out of the way because whoever was trying to hit me obviously wanted me dead. Now Matt is the one who is in the hospital because people hate me! I should just have called when it all happened." Nicole says into the phone quietly.

Even more silence.

"I'll keep you updated. Love you Luke. I'll see you soon. Bye." She says then hangs up.
"You're worth it." I say to her. She jumps slightly and looks over at me.
"Y-you heard all of that?" She asks. I nod and she looks down.
"You're worth saving. You may not see it but you mean so much to all of us. If you got hit I'm sure we all would be more upset now." I say sitting next to her.
"But Matt is your best friend. Why would you guys be more upset?"
"You're like a little sister to all of us. Except me. You're my girlfriend and I would have killed he person who hit you." I say taking her hands in mine.
"I'm just worried that Matt won't be okay. It's all my fault." She says as more tears fall to her cheeks.
"It's not your fault. I promise." I say and kiss her. She lightly kisses back. "Let's go back inside. They other guys's are probably worried about us." I say and stand up still holding onto one of her hands. She stands up slowly and we walk back towards the guys.

When we reach them I see Jack G run up to Nicole and snatch her in a hug. "Oh hi Jack." She says quietly and hugging him back.
"I'm so sorry. I never meant to act so rude to you. I just promised Matt..."
"What did you promise him?" She asks him.
"To protect you. He cares so much for you. I had to make sure nothing would happen and well, I didn't do a good job on that." He says putting her down.
"It's fine Jack. He'll be fine and we'll all be fine. Let's all just go home and get some sleep." She says to him. He nods. "We all can spend the night at my house. My mom wouldn't mind." She suggests. Everyone nods and we all walk back to our cars.

Nicole's POV
When we all get back to my house my mom left a note saying she and Alexa went to New York for my sisters stupid gymnastic thing. "Looks like we'll be alone for the night." I say throwing the note away. The boys all go down to the basement and into the "theater." I was making dinner for everyone when someone comes up from behind me.
"Whatcha making?" He asks. It was Hayes.
"Dinner. It's just some sandwiches." I say putting the several meats onto bread for one sandwich. I add mayonnaise for a not so dry taste. As I continue to make the sandwiches I remember how I made one for Matt and he loved it. That was the first time he came over to my house. I was upsetting myself. I had tears run down my cheeks. Eventually I drop everything including myself and I begin crying. Hayes was there the whole time and he quickly got on the floor next to me.
"Nicole. What's wrong?" He asks me as he pulls me into him. I was in between his legs leaning against his chest. "Tell me what upset you." He says stroking my hair. Hayes was able to calm me down a little but it wasn't enough to stop my crying.
"J-just everything re-reminds me of M-Matt." I stutter. Hayes sighs.
"I know you miss him already but you have to stay strong for him. He would do the same if he was in your shoes." Hayes says gently. I take a deep breath and nod. Hayes may only be a freshman but he was smart. After a few seconds I start to stand up and Hayes helps me the rest of the way up. "Let's finish these sandwiches and get them down to the guys." He says starting to make one.
"How about you get out some chips and drinks and I'll finish making them." He nods and starts searching. I end up making 30 sandwiches enough for everyone to have two and still have a few extra. Hayes found 3 bags of chips and some sodas. We walk downstairs and find the boys all sitting on the couches talking. The room gets quiet when we walk in.
"What were you guys talking about?" I ask them putting the sandwiches on he table.
"Nothing." Nash says as he crosses his arms and leans back on the couch. I sigh.
"Honestly Nicole it was nothing." Sam says. Hayes and I sit on the couch together.
"It's okay. I don't know either." Hayes whispers. I nod at him.
"Do you think they were talking about us?" I whisper back.
"They could have been." He says still whispering.
"I feel like I'm at school again. With all the kids whispering behind my back." I whisper into his year and slumping down in my seat.
"If any of them say one bad thing about you then I'll beat their ass." He whispers which makes me smile and laugh quietly.
"What are you guys talking about?" Nash asks.
"Nothing." I say as he did to me before.
"Honestly Nash it was nothing." Hayes says copying what Sam said.

All the boys have eaten and we were watching a movie, Now You See Me you know the magic movie here they join the eye? Yea the greatest movie ever. I stayed awake for the whole movie when everyone else fell asleep.
"No nothing is locked." I say to myself. Matt and I loved that part. Where Dave Franco meets them at the park and the gate is locked. I couldn't take it. Matt not being here. It's only been a day, but it feels like it has been years. I had to go see him. Silently I get up from my position next to Hayes and I go upstairs. Even though I haven't seen Matt and he hasn't woke up I still wanted to look okay for him. He would of had me go home and shower and change because he was "okay." Matt cared so much about me it was weird. As quickly as I could I showered and slipped on yoga pants, one of Matt's plain white shirts and a thin pink jacket. I pull my hair up and I grab my guitar and slip on a pair of pink vans. Silently I grab my keys and phone and go out to my car to drive to the hospital.
