heejin was on her way to work, but this time she decided to take a different route to the train station. lately, she's been and seen herself as a bit more stranger, and so have the close people around her. she has been a lot more open towards not only her friends but the world around her as well. it couldn't have been a change of heart when seeing someone, nothing like that happens all of a sudden, it only does in those helpless romantic type of books.

—————

the sound of her slightly heeled flat shoes echoed along the cold hard road as she walked closer and closer towards her destination. heejin was just about to cross the road when a ginger cat had stopped in front of her. it purred and immediately went towards heejin like the feline knew her. she was startled, she wasn't exactly scared of cats but they weren't really her favourite either. either way, she still found the furry creature who was now rubbing itself against her legs, cute. she bent down to look at it in its eyes. "you know you really scared me!" she whispered towards the cat, now stroking its tender fur with her soft hands. "where's your owner?" she asked, she knew she wouldn't get a response, but she was a little concerned on why it was here, near such a busy road with loud and fast cars.

all the cat did was continue to give heejin affection. she sighed as she searched with her eyes around the area, just to check if she could find anyone chasing around for their lost cat, or someone talking to people with a worried look on their face.

time was ticking, and heejin really didn't want to be late for work, but a part of her didn't want to leave the cat alone by itself, she wasn't sure why she just didn't want to leave, she never acted this way around unfamiliar people or animals. but she seemed to grow attached to it. even now, she thought herself this cat did look familiar.

—————

hyunjin stumbled into the kitchen, rushing to leave, her boss needed her asap in the office, and she couldn't afford to disappoint her, especially after not taking much part in yesterday's meeting. she knew that meeting was rather important to kim jungeun, and yet she failed to follow such a simple task.

she placed down the cat food into each 3 separate bowls and watched as only 2 of them arrived and munched on their food. she stared at them and the bowls for a minute, a little confused. she could've sworn that she saw her other cat that morning, don't tell her it snuck out again when she wasn't looking. "oh. my. FUCKING GOD!" hyunjin screamed, you could say it was loud enough to make her other cats stare at her with wide eyes before going back to eating. "i need to find that cat now!"

she quickly grabbed her black leather handbag before rushing out of her house, she slammed the door behind her and locked it as fast as possible, even with her shaky hands she still managed to do it in a good amount of time. she ran down her road to the nearest crossing, and looked around. her head moved from side to side, only to realise it might not even be on this part. so, she took a turn left to the next nearest crossing. but unlucky, it still wasn't there.

—————

you could say, hyunjin spent a whole lot of time chasing around for her cat. she was definitely sweating by now and probably didn't want to go to work either. it was like she was doing a work out she never signed up for.

she stopped on the side of one road to catch her breath as she muttered swear words underneath it. she flopped her back against the brick wall behind her and closed her eyes. fresh air at last. at this point, she could care less about her cat, she just wanted a break from all the catastrophe.

after only a few minutes, she opened up her eyes, and it was met with a girl stroking a ginger cat who looked exactly like hers. with sudden shock, she quickly ran across the road.

—————

the girl stroking the cat looked up because of sounds of panting, she blinked her eyes only to realise she knew this face. it was kim hyunjin. the girl she kept running into for no reason. first the night she was going home, then the meeting yesterday, and now this? it is not a coincidence anymore. heejin, the girl, stood up and moved backwards, allowing hyunjin to have some space to stand. "ex- excuse me mi-miss" hyunjin heaved up and down, struggling to breathe and talk. "that's my c-cat." she managed to at least get those words out of her, she looked up to see heejin trying to understand what she said. heejin was about to talk- wait what? it's heejin? like this couldn't have gotten anymore awkward! "oh right..." heejin finally was able to understand the words after thinking about them in her head. "wait this is your cat? you have a cat?" she surprisingly asked the girl who was no longer panting. to heejin, it was very unlike a girl such as hyunjin to have a pet cat, well that was only based off of what she had seen of hyunjin. "yes this is my cat, now, ahem" she cleared her throat. "i'll be uhm going?" she said, picking up her cat and giving an awkward smile to heejin, all heejin could do was nod and just stand there as she watched hyunjin walk away whilst cussing at her cat and saying things like "next time i will not open any doors or any windows you crazy idiot!" it made her slightly laugh. maybe hyunjin wasn't such a cold person, but she barely knew the girl, she's being too quick to make assumptions. but it would be nice to get to know hyunjin.

heejin turned around, and walked towards the trains stations entrance. but then that sharp pain hit her.

—————

"i love your cat so much!" heejin turned towards hyunjin whilst stroking the ginger animal. "she's just too cute to handle! look at her pink nose and green eyes." hyunjin laughed. "i know right, i love her so much, it always scares me when i can't find her anywhere!" hyunjin replied, looking and then smiling towards heejin, "luckily you found her today, otherwise i might've never seen her again." she sounded so thankful whilst saying that, heejin couldn't help but return the smile that was on hyunjins face. "it's not worries, you're my best friend of course! i'd do anything for you!" .... yeah, just best friends.

"so that's why the cat seemed familiar, huh?"
