taking a deep breath, hyunjin's eyes wandered up the rather tall building. "JEON" was stated at the top of the scape in large, bold letters. she was told that sign was hand made. impressive. as she clutches her hand against the black, leather bag she always carried around, she tried to gain confidence. her plan was to walk straight through the two glass doors with overflowing determination. yet how could she simply do that when she was sure every existing thing in there hated her. or, despised of her. even the vines for decoration curled around the entrance handles must've hated her.
hyunjin shook her head. "it's okay, just walk in." she muttered to herself.
head first, she walked into the building. her eyes met with a familiar space, as they softened. she tried to go unnoticed by the accountant at the registration table, when visiting, you always had to show your identity. she crouched down a bit, lowering her height whilst attempting to slide around the sharp corner near the corridor. but, she was caught. who wouldn't be caught whilst doing that abnormal behaviour? she was forced to walk towards the marble desk, as she was met with a tall lady with eyes as sharp as knifes. she gulped, waiting to hear a harsh voice that would interview her on why she was 'sneaking' around. "what brings you here?" hyunjins eyes immediately widened in shock, as the accountant in front of her smiled. so scary, yet so nice? "well," hyunjin nervously giggled, "i'm here to see the CEO?" the accountant nodded her head whilst dialling numbers onto the phones keypad that was sat next to her computer. a small ringing noise was heard until after 5 seconds there was a beep. "hello jeon heejin, this is hyejoo speaking."
—————
"ah heejin!" vivi exclaimed, "your phone is ringing!" vivi bent over to the younger girls desk as she read who the call was from. "it's from one of the ladies at the registration desk." "okay; coming!" heejin exclaimed, waddling over to her desk. she nodded at vivi as a 'thank you' as she clicked the enter button and picked up the phone. "hello? jeon heejin here."
"hello jeon heejin, this is hyejoo speaking."
"hyejoo! is there anything wrong?"
"no, you just have a visitor, were they invited over for something?"
heejin squinted her eyes, she doesn't recall asking someone to visit, perhaps it was something like a delayed meeting. "well, what's their name?"—————
"well, what's their name?"
hyejoo covered the phone's speaker with her perfectly sculpted hand, as she turned her head towards hyunjin. "the CEO wants to know your name, is that okay?"
hyunjin once again gulped, there was no doubt she'd be sent out if they knew it was her. "uh, is there anyway i can speak to her without revealing my name?" hyejoo nodded, as she directed her gaze back to her computer and phone, uncovering the speaker.—————
"she'd rather keep it unknown, miss."
"strange." heejin muttered, but just about so quietly that hyejoo was not able to hear.
"did you say something, jeon?"
"oh no don't worry about it, send her up please."
"will do!"there was a small beep once the call was ended, allowing heejin to put the phone down and continue organising her drawers whilst waiting for this mystery guest.
"who's waiting at the desk for you this time?" vivi walked over, noticing her friend had gone back to being a clean freak. heejins hands fumbled between documents of paper, "i don't know myself, according to hyejoo, the person wanted to keep their identity a secret." vivi just hummed, continuing to walk around the rather large office. "i think you need a new clock." she mentioned, causing heejin to rapidly turn round, "it can't be broken again?" heejin walked over, staring up at the clock, "shit." vivi giggled, as she watched heejin out of the corner of her eye move around on the spot in panic. "i'll buy you another one, don't worry." heejin stopped pacing around on, turning the heels of her feet as she smiled towards vivi. she was about to say a few thankful words when hyejoo had knocked on the door and opened it.
"miss jeon?" hyejoo perked her head around the small gap of the opened door. "hyejoo!" heejin smiled, beginning to now walk over to the door. hyejoo returned the brown haired girls simple smile. "are you ready to see the guest?" hyejoo asked, slightly opening the door a bit more to be able to stand up straight. "of course!" heejin replied, still obtaining the small smile on her face. hyejoo just nodded, she was never the socially invested type despite her job. her actions spoke louder than words. hyejoo called over the visitor, waving goodbye to heejin and letting the girl walk in.
hyunjin, with her head hung low, walked into the building. in her defence, the action wasn't rude, it was just that seeing heejins face would've probably made her break down into tears. after walking in, and standing still, hyunjin finally had the courage to lift up her head. she moved a few strands of hair away from her tense, yet still relaxed face. noticing the girl who was now in the office with her and the ceo, vivi's mouth was left slightly agape for in shock, as she moved closer to heejins side. an awkward atmosphere was created. neither of the girls knew what to say. it was all too surreal. not even vivi could think of something to say.
"heejin," hyunjin managed to get out of her vocal system, as she coughed, clearing her croaky throat that hurt from trying to hold back tears. heejin raised an eyebrow in lack of empathy, but some part of her felt a little bad.
"what?" heejin semi-hissed back, standing tall like she was uninterested in the appearance before her eyes. hyunjin placed a hand in her chest, heaving out big breaths of courage. "i haven't got all day you know?" heejin continued, the menacing expression still sticking in her face. "oh i know that..." hyunjin replied, her words being mumbled into the distance. hyunjin opened her mouth, leading heejin with anticipation. "can we have a talk?" hyunjin finally said. heejin tensed up. vivi took notice, placing her hand on heejins hip, bringing her closer. hyunjin scratched her arm, seining her body from side to side. "i've been thinking a lot for the past days," hyunjin continued to speak, "and i decided to talk things through, it's not use just avoiding each other, nothing that is really true will ever come out if we tilt our heads away everytime we cords paths." now hyunjin was the one who had her arms across her chest, her face flattening, creating a serious aura. heejin slightly stumbled back. now becoming confused. she looked towards vivi for reassurance, receiving a nod. looking back to hyunjin, her only response was, "i suppose we could."—————
they were sit a few inches away from each other, heejin sat in her office chair whilst hyunjin was on the other side in a black leather chair. heejin had her chin rested on the back of her hand, as she listened closely to every words hyunjin spat out. "i didn't want any relationship with sooyoung, she was just a buddy who i could have fun with after work, she may've thought were something serious, but we weren't and never." hyunjin shrugged her shoulders, looking heejin in the eye. she wasn't lying this time. "so was i not fun enough for you?" heejin replied, narrowing her eyes, as she proceeded to fiddle with her soft lips. hyunjin sighed, "of course. you are fun too," hyunjin said, "but everything felt serious with you, our relationship wasn't ever real." heejin knew it wasn't real, but it certainly felt like they were meant to be. "i know that..." heejin murmured, repeating the same words as hyunjin when she had nothing to say. "it's just, maybe i really liked you." hyunjin tilted her head, letting heejin continue to speak. "that's why i'm so hurt." hyunjin nodded, suddenly grabbing heejins two hands, intertwining them with hers. there was a moment of silence, as they gazed into each others honey brown eyes. it was almost as if you could get lost in them, a whole galaxy lived in their eyes. when they looked at each other, the galaxy became bigger. "i promise," hyunjin breathed out, "to not hurt your feelings again, if you give me another chance to show myself." heejin froze, becoming indecisive, hyunjins phrase was definitely unexpected to her. hyunjin sat waiting, allowing heejin to think. suddenly, heejin removed her hands from hyunjins, getting up from her chair and walking over to the big window. from there you could see all the lights, people dancing in their windows, the street lights, even the stars. heejin turned around, after admiring the surroundings, she hadn't done that in a while. "i'll give you another chance, black haired girl."
