How does he know?
Wait. I was not stalking. I was just casually looking.
Sure, if that is what you want to call it.
Dominic: I know it was you last night.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
Me: Whaaaaaaa... I do not know what you are talking about. I was in bed. Who are you?
Dominic: You're a terrible liar.
Rude.
Damn it what do I say? Out of instinct I begin to bite my nails to try to calm the nerves.
Dominic: Nail biting is a bad habit, Bambi.
I freeze. Slowly, I look around the dining room confused. There is a knock on the front door, I shriek. I stare at it in shock.
No fucking way.
I make my way towards the front door and grab an umbrella that I usually leave leaning against the side of the door.
"Who is it?" my words sound shaky.
"Open up Bambi."
How did he find out where I live?!
"I-I h-have a gun, I'm not afraid to use it. You should probably go." I quickly shout in a panic. There was a quiet pause.
"Open the door."
I take a deep breath, ready to swing if I must, and I unlock the door already knowing who will be standing on the other side. Dominic leans against the door frame, looking as confident as ever. His all black attire, consisting of a t-shirt, jeans, and combat boots, makes him look mysterious.
Is black the only color he knows?
Maybe he is color blind.
It looks good on him nonetheless though. He lifts an eyebrow and nods towards the raised umbrella.
"You know how to use that thing?" He teases. My jaw drops at his question, he uses my shocked expression and takes a step into my house.
Sure, come on in.
He looks around my living room taking in the surroundings. It is a typical living room full of various family photos hung on the walls and brown leather couches pointed towards the TV on top of the fireplace. It is very neat thanks to my mom being a clean freak.
When my parents come back after a long period of time, my mom goes on a rampage and redecorates the living room. She always says I need a change of scenery since I am the one that sees this place every day.
As he looks around at the family photos on the wall, I just stand there awkwardly not knowing what to say or do. Out of habit, I started biting on my lower lip. Dominic looks at me and his eyes darken from a light green to almost a shade of emerald. The intensity of it makes me gasp, releasing my lip.
"So, how much did you see last night?" he asks.
"I didn't see anything." I murmur. His blank stare tells me he is not buying what I'm selling. So, I go on, "Fine. Look, I did not see much. I just heard a noise and went towards it. I saw you and your friends beating someone up. But I promise I will not go to the cops. I swear."
"I'm not worried about you going to the cops because you would've done it by now," he slowly walks towards me until we were toe to toe, "Plus, if you do go to the cops, I'll make sure you end up on a missing persons poster and no one will be able to find you."
He smirks and my jaw drops again in shock. I close my mouth and open it again, probably looking like a fish out of water, trying to figure out how to respond to that. His phone rings, stopping me from looking like a gaping mess.
"What..... Yeah.. okay.... I'll get on it". He responds to the person on the other end before hanging up. He turns away and makes his way to the front door, "I've got some business to take care of." With a foot out the door he turns around, "But, I'll see you soon Bambi."
He winks before walking out the front door. I stare at him as he leaves, and I am frozen in place as I hear him drive off down the street. What have I gotten myself into?
