I struggle with trying to find something to wear. Normally I only have two options for school but now I have to pick through a closet full of things and it's stressing me out. I sit on the bed and let out a frustrated groan. Then I hear a small knock on the door before Amy peeks her head in.
"Breakfast is ready" she smiles.
But before she can close the door, I stop her. "A-Amy could you maybe help me pick out a shirt to wear?" I ask timidly. I know it's a stupid question to ask, but I can't help feeling overwhelmed by the simple action of picking out a shirt.
And if I find this overwhelming, going to a new school definitely won't be a walk in the park.
"Sure sweetie" Amy replies softly.
She walks in and opens the doors to the closet. She shifts things around for a while before pulling out a black silk tank top with a black lace trim at the top and the bottom. "How about this?" she asks holding it up.
I nod my head and thank her before she walks out of the room so I can get dressed. She also bought me a new black jacket since mine was falling apart, literally.
I put on the tank top with jeans and my new black jacket because it is a little chilly this morning. If I'm being honest I would wear the jacket if it was one hundred degrees outside. I hate my arms, they are skinny and a lot of the times have bruises on them anyway. So I always keep them covered with hoodies or jackets.
I put on a pair of black shoes that Amy bought me and grab my bag then walk downstairs into the dinning room. There are pancakes, bacon, and eggs on the table.
I wonder if it's always like this in the morning. Now that I know what they do for a living, it doesn't seem like they should have this much time on their hands.
But the breakfast is delicious. I've never had a home-cooked breakfast before and it's something I hope I will get to experience more.
After breakfast Noah drives us to school in his car. It's a red Mercedes-Benz convertible. He takes a lot of pride in it, I can tell. It's very shiny and clean and just over all very well-kept. I feel like I shouldn't be touching anything so when I get in the car I try my best to keep my hands glued to my sides.
When we pull up to the school my eyes grow about ten times in size.
The school is big.
No,
It's huge.
I suck in a large breath as we pull into the parking lot. I knew it was a private school but this is like one building short of a small college campus. The school I went to before was probably the size of this parking lot. It's intimidating and that makes me even more nervous.
"I don't think this is a good idea" I say to Noah in a whisper. It's too much and too big, I don't belong here.
"Vanessa," Noah turns to look at me. "remember what I told you last night. I will be with you the whole time. The only time I won't be with you is during class but that shouldn't be a problem because all you have to do in there is pay attention and learn" he rubs my arm in attempt to comfort me. "I promise it will be fine"
I let out a deep breath.
I guess if Noah will be with me the whole time then maybe it won't be so bad. He seems to want to be there for me and I think that trait must run in the family. After contemplating and eyeing the school a few times, I nod my head and we get out the car.
We don't make it far when a blonde about my height runs over to Noah. He gives her a hug and kisses her. Must be his girlfriend.
"This is my girlfriend Rachel. Rachel this is Vanessa" he says introducing us. I should've known. Noah is way too nice to not have a girlfriend.
