"Maybe it's nothing" Anna says taking a sip from her water bottle. "Maybe he just got sick and he's too weak to pick up the phone"
After Mason never told me where he was going I let it go. But then he didn't show up to school the next day and hasn't texted or spoken to me since the last time I've seen him.
"Don't make excuses for him" I narrow my eyes at her. Anna is more of an optimist but even I can tell she doesn't believe that there can be anything good about this situation.
She sighs and opens her mouth to speak but I cut her off.
"Nope. We are changing the subject. Don't want to talk about Mason anymore" I put my phone in my bag so that it's out of my sight.
"Let's just talk about next Wednesday. Friendsgiving" Henry says from his position lying on the ground. I don't know why he chose that spot when he could be on the chair or the bed.
We are all at Annas house. She drove us here after school since she has her license now. It's Friday and next week we only have school Monday and Tuesday , then we are on break until December first. My first three months here have really flown by.
I feel like a lot about me has changed since I first got here.
"Oh Henry, Anna has a date" I smile trying to get my mind away from anything that has to do with Mason.
"Is that so?" he raises an eyebrow.
She blushes and nods her head. "He's really excited to meet you guys. I talk about you two a lot" she chuckles.
"I'm flattered" Henry says sitting up so that we can see his face.
"Henry won't you just tell us who you like so that we could all have dates? It could be like a triple date at friendsgiving. Doesn't that sound fun?" Anna says.
"For the last time Anna" he groans. "I don't like anyone"
I look over at Henry. He hasn't been acting like himself lately and I've been trying to figure out why. Anna hasn't noticed but I'm pretty positive that there is something he isn't telling us.
"Actually Henry isn't going to be the only one without a date" I say turning the attention away from him.
"You're not bringing Mason?" Anna asks sadly. I shake my head. "Well maybe it should just be us three, I won't bring Troy"
"No! Anna come on we want to meet him. Right Henry?" I say turning to him.
"Absolutely" he nods his head.
"Are you guys sure?" she asks.
"Positive" I smile. "Let's watch a movie. Turn on Clueless"
Anna smiles as Henry groans. "I need more guy friends" he mumbles.
Anna and I chuckle as she turns the movie on.
After the movie Henry gets picked up and not too long after that Amy comes to get me on her way home from work.
"Do you have any traditions that you did for Thanksgiving? If so, we would love to do them" Amy asks a few minutes into the car ride.
"We didn't celebrate holidays at the orphanage" I reply looking out the window. "So anything you guys normally do is fine with me"
She's quiet for a while before she speaks again. "Were you treated well there? If you don't mind my asking"
I look over at her. "No, I've always had to take care of myself" my voice is low. I'm not ashamed of my life, it's just not all that fun to talk about.
