Chapter~27~ Family Trip... Gone Wrong

The next day, John B woke up with Sadie laying on top of his free arm, and Sadies' hand in his eyes. This wasn't a weird thing for them to wake up like this, seeing as it was nothing but platonic, but John B still slipped his arm from under her head, since his arm was asleep. Sadie stirred, slowly opening her eyes. She sat up, running her hands through her hair, getting all the tangles out. She turned to John B, who was deep in thought.

"You okay, JB?" She asked.

"The gold." He muttered.

"What?" She asked, not hearing what he said.

"The gold." He repeated louder.

Sadie furrowed her eyebrows yet again, not understanding what he was talking about. "What about it?" She asked.

"Ward. He knew about it, right?" Sadie nodded. "What if he knows where it is?" John B asked.

Sadie's eyes widen, the both of them scrambled up, running inside the château, so John B could grab his keys, and running to his van. Running back out to the car, Sadie got a message.

Ward
Ward: You need to come home now.

Sadie: Is everything okay?
Read: 10:00am

She didn't get a reply, Ward just left her on open. Her face contorted into confusion, and she started to worry.

Ward

Sadie: Hello?
Read: 10:02am

Ward: Just get home. Now!

She turned to John B, "hey, can you drop me off at my house please?" She asked.

"Uh, yeah sure. Why?" John B asked, slowly stopping his movements.

"I... don't exactly know." Sadie admitted.

"But the gold, Sadie..." John B reminded.

"I know, but Ward sounds pretty mad, even through text. Something's probably up." Sadie said.

"What if he's just lying to get you to go home or something?" John B asked.

Sadie thought, "that could be true... but, if I don't go home, Ward will literally send the whole Sheriffs department to come look for me, and we definitely don't want that." She said, getting in the van.

John B sighed, "you're right." He agreed, doing the same.

"And look, as soon as you drop me off, you go straight to see if he got the gold." Sadie said.

"Alright." John B nodded, pulling away from the Château, and heading to the Cameron House.

John B pulled into Sadie's neighborhood, getting about 4 houses down, before Sadie told him to stop. "You could just drop me off here, I don't want you to have to drive all the way there."

John B did as she asked. Sadie unbuckled, before turning to John B, and hugging him, "it's gonna be alright. I'll find out if he has the gold, and where he's keeping it, then I'll tell you when I do, okay?" Sadie assured, pulling away from the hug.

"Okay. Thank you... seriously, I have no idea what I'll do without you." John B said.

Sadie smiled, before getting out of the car, and walking the rest of the distance to her house. Walking in, she was immediately ambushed with questions and orders from Ward. "Where have you been? I've been so worried about you!"
