Chapter~12~ Beatings

Sadie lay in bed with JJ that night, both of them exhausted from their adventurous day. Sadie was dozing off, when she heard JJ call her name.
"Sadie," he whispered.
"Yeah?" She whispered back, half asleep.
"Do you... do you think it was a good idea to tell them... about us?"
Sadie turned to look at him, eyebrows furrowed.
"No, not really. Did you?" She asked, worried they made a mistake.
"No, no, of course not."
"Okay, okay. Good."
They turned to each other, making eye contact. JJ's hand came up to tuck in a piece of hair behind her ear.
"I think I'm in love with you." He said suddenly.
Love? They did not get to that part in their relationship. Sadie sat, wondering if it was actually true, because she knew JJ was capable of having strong feelings for someone, but loving someone? She doesn't think he was ready for that, she doesn't think SHE was ready for that. But then again, she doesn't know what JJ is thinking. So many thoughts were running through her head, and tears started to fill her eyes. JJ cleared his throat.

"I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that I-" he started.
"No, no... it's just um, I-I don't think right now is like the best time..." she tried to say, not even knowing where she was going with it.
"Yeah, yeah-no, for sure." He stammered out.

They both laid there, in an awkward silence. JJ's heart felt like it was going to split into two, Sadie felt the same. Soon, she spoke.
"I-I think I'm gonna go to sleep."
"Yeah, um, goodnight." JJ said.
"Goodnight."
They both turned again, their backs now facing each other. JJ felt the tears rolling down his face, he wanted so badly to just get up and leave, but he didn't have the strength to at that point.
Finally, after a while, they both fell asleep.

The next morning the two teens woke up, their bodies intertwined. They immediately pulled apart, hopping out of bed, apologizing to each other profusely.
"No, it's okay."
"Yeah, um..." the awkwardness was killing them both.
"I'm gonna get in the shower." Sadie quickly let out.
"Um, yeah, okay."

Sadie went into the bathroom, turning on the shower. She undressed, as she waited for the water to get hot. She hopped in, getting under the water, she washed her hair, and body, then just tried to relax. She felt horrible about what happened last night. It's not that she didn't have feelings for JJ, she just didn't know if she loved him, yet. She let the water run over her body for a minute, before getting out. She wrapped a towel around her body, stepping out of the bathroom. She didn't see JJ in her room anymore, her eyebrows furrowed.
Shit.
She quickly got dressed, then running out of her room. Before she got to the stairs, she ran into JJ coming out of the bathroom.

"Woah!" He exclaimed.
"Sorry, what are you doing?"
"Going to the bathroom?"
"Well, yeah but, you could've used mine."
"I was, but, I didn't know if you'd be comfortable with that, since, you know... after last night."

It once again, was awkward between them. She cringed, everything still so fresh in her mind.
"Oh, yeah... well, we should probably go wait outside, John B's almost here."
"Yeah."

The two teens walked downstairs, and out the door. John B soon pulled up to the Cameron house, the... couple... getting inside the van. The Pogues immediately knew something was up between the two, seeing as they weren't all on each other, as usual. JJ was in the back, as Sadie was in the passenger seat.

"Okay, um, what's up?" Kie asked.
"Huh?" JJ replied, Sadie just looked at her weird.
"Y'all are acting like you broke up, or something." Pope said.

Sadie and JJ just looked at each other, their eyes sad.

"Holy shit." John B said from next to Sadie.
"Y'all did break up!"
