I was in the livingroom on the floor at my old house sitting on my bed playing with my stuff animals when I saw my parents walk in from the backyard. "How's our little baby doing? Already so big for only being 5!" Smiling brightly I held my stuffed tiger out to my mom when she sat down in front of me. I picked out the stuff lion and we started playing. After about 20 minutes my dad called out that we should all get ice cream. Jumping up I dropped my stuffed animal and yelled, "ICE CREAM!" Running to my dad he picked me up and kissed my cheek smiling. We all walked through the door and suddenly I was in my old room with my hands covering my ears to block out the yelling that was coming from downstairs. "Why the fuck was she not able to pass a simple fucking test!" I cried and rocked back and forth. Why can't I do it. Why can't I ever be enough. Hearing footsteps coming up the stairs made me stumble back into the corner of my room with my knees pulled into my chest. My door bursted open and my mom and dad looked around the room for me. When my mom and I made eye contact she walked over and grabbed my arm pulling me into the middle of the room. "You are a disgrace to this family. Pathetic how you are our daughter." With a swift kick to my stomach they left my room with me crying on the floor. Bumping into someone I apologize and kept my head down before hands took my arms and made me wince with the fresh bruise on my arm. "Hey Faith are you okay?" I looked up and saw Victoria looking at me concerned. She can't know. She can't. Nodding I looked around the halls of my high school and noticed people talking adamantly to each other. "I am okay Vic." Giving a small smile I took the hand that was still on my bruise off and held it instead. Victoria gave me a skeptic look but squeezed my hand and we walked to my locker. Walking home slowly I somehow knew that it wasn't going to end well. Why can't they ever leave me alone. Looking at the driveway I saw that both my mom and dad were home. Oh no. Walking quickly I went inside and went to run up the stairs when I got pulled back down by my dad. "Now where you do think you are going?" He punched me a couple times drawing blood and then my mom came over and continued until I was coughing blood. "Pathetic excuse of a daughter. We should of gotten rid of you when we had the chance." Another blow to my stomach making me curl into myself.
My dad and mom suddenly stopped and walked a couple feet away talking to each other as if they never hit me. Occasionally they would look over at me but they would continue talking. I only got glimpses what what they were saying, "We need to get rid of her. We can leave after and never be found." When I heard that I used as much strength as I could to get up and run to my room locking the door behind me. Pounding came from my door and shouts saying, "OPEN THIS DAMN DOOR! WE AREN'T DONE YET!" I grabbed a backpack and shoved as much stuff as I could and what I wanted to keep. Throwing it over my back and ignoring the searing pain coming from everywhere in my body. I opened the window and climbed out jumping to the floor hearing my bedroom door break open. Running as fast as I could and ignoring the yelling from my parents I ran to the one place I knew I was safe. Pounding on the door it opened to a confused Victoria and quickly caught me when I started to fall. "Oh my gosh Faith! It's okay Faith I've got you. You're safe now." Everything faded to black when she said those last words. You're safe now. My eyes opened and I was standing in a hospital room. Looking around I immediately recognized Victoria's parents who were sitting together on a couch holding each other with sad faces. "Why are you guys so sad?" No one answered me or even flinched when I spoke. What in the world. I looked to my left and saw the person laying in the hospital bed. My eyes widened and suddenly the wind was knocked out of making me stumble onto the front of the bed. On the bed connected to tubes and wires was me. Gasping for air I noticed my left hand was being held by Victoria who rested her chin next to my arm with her tear stained cheeks and red puffy eyes. I walked over to her and kneeled next to her while she continued to sob. "Faith come back to me. I need you here with me. Please Faith, I can't lose you." Her voice cracked when another sob came out. Her parents got off the couch and pulled Victoria into a tight hug. "It's okay honey she's a fighter. She'll come back." She only cried harder and mumbled out, "It's already been a month I don't know how much more I can take of this heart ache." A month, I've been here for a month. "I haven't been eating, sleeping, and I don't even go to class. Jonathan brings me work that I am missing. It hurts so much mom."
