It was nearly four in the morning when a black vehicle approached the gas station. A heavy sigh was heard in the car when the ride came to an end in the shadow, just around the corner. Perfectly out of sight for those who drove over the highway and were, just like Seungcheol and Eric, still awake this late at night.
"Damn, why do we have to do this again?" Eric rolled the window on his side open and pulled a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the glove box. "Do you mind?" Eric asked the visibly tensed boy seated next to him.
Seungcheol shook his head in approval. Eric lighting up a cigarette would be the last thing on his mind when he sat in the car, just about to rob a fucking gas station.
"Thanks man." Eric leaned out of his window and flicked his lighter, cupping a hand over the flame as he lit his cigarette. He inhaled deeply, letting the smoke fill lungs and bringing his body in a state of relaxation, before exhaling a grey cloud that faded away and mixed itself with the darkness of the night.
"Want some too? Seems like you can use some." Seungcheol shook his head on the offer, although the idea of a stress reliever seemed pretty alluring. Even when he had promised himself he would never smoke in his entire life, he snatched the cigarette from between Eric's fingers and inhaled a good amount of smoke.
However, he forgot he also had to breathe the smoke out of his lungs again, and started coughing instantly, making Eric throw his head back in laughter. This is horrible. Seungcheol thought to himself at first.
But when the pain in his throat left, a pleasuring feeling took over and he, indeed, felt his stress fade away a little.
"I never expected you to smoke." Eric spoke after taking another puff of his cigarette, tapping the ashes off his cigarette as he leaned his lower arm outside his window.
"Neither did I." He shortly replied, not able to keep his eyes off the opened sign on the door, right around the corner and just in sight for them to see if the store was empty or not.
"Okay Seungcheol, listen to me clearly." Eric spoke, pointing to a security camera Seungcheol had also laid an eye on. "See that camera there?" Seungcheol nodded, throat feeling too dry to speak. "It's broken. It's an old model, one they used about ten years ago. This type of security camera's use to have a little light on top of it that lits up every once a minute and i haven't seen any movement for the entire time we've been waiting here."
Seungcheol let out a relieved sigh as he nodded, ready for Eric to go on. "However, this means that the only security camera you have to worry about is inside. I've been here about a week ago to check the location, your dad was planning on sending you here before hand. At the back of the store there will be a security camera facing straight at the camera." Eric explains, Seungcheol humming in response, taking in all the information.
"So, once you're inside, the first thing you do is walk to the aisle all the way in the back with your hood up, so the cashier won't get suspicious. If you walk in the store and instantly walk up to him he still has the time to press a few buttons before you reach him, it's strange to just walk up him and especially at this hour. If you won't and just randomly grab something and approach him he won't grow suspicious of you and doesn't have the chance to push anything that'll call the cops in. Got it?"
"Why can't you just do it? You've done this so many times before, if we just tell my dad-" Seungcheol got shushed when he saw Eric pointing at something in the mirror. "You see the black SUV, parked on the sidewalk?" Seungcheol nodded as Eric continued. "They've been following us, it's one of your dad's coworkers who had to check if you would actually have the guts do to such thing. Trust me, you shouldn't underestimate the power your father. has."
