"Jeonghan?"
"Seungcheol?" Jeonghan asked in shock, his eyes fixated on the gun pointed at him.
Seungcheol's hands started trembling even more and he lowered the gun, pointing down at the ground. The music from inside the bar became distant, the entire world around him fading away as he focussed on Jeonghan.
The tears that fell from his eyes were a mixture of both happiness and regret. Regret from all the things he had said to Jeonghan the day he left. Regret that he broke his promise to protect him at all cost and be there for him. Regret on seeing how much weight Jeonghan had lost, his skin hanging loosely around his cheekbones and his eyes dark and gloomy.
All because of him.
And now he stood there, gun clenched in his fist, ready to drive a bullet through his brain. Jeonghan had been the one he had to assassinate. Seungcheol knew his father knew exactly that this wasn't some sort of drug dealer or boss of a club that owed him money.
They planned on doing this so Seungcheol would prove himself and stay under his father's wings in the end.
But that wouldn't happen.
Because the only wings Seungcheol wanted to be engulfed by were those of the fallen angel who sat on the ground.
"Fuck that stupid job." Seungcheol threw the gun aggressively out of reach and hurriedly dropped himself on the ground next to the boy, pulling him in the hug he needed since the moment he walked out of that room on a rainy night. "Hannie.. I'm so sorry.. I'm so- so.... s-sorry.."
Seungcheol's words only came out as weak sobs, finally admitting to his tired body and wrapping himself in the warmth of Jeonghan. To his surprise, Jeonghan pulled him even closer, snuggling his nose in the defined features of Seungcheol's neck.
"Cheollie.. I'm so s-sorry I- I wasn't e-enough.. I'm s-" "-shhh" Seungcheol effectively shushed him, determined to make Jeonghan stop feeling so miserable.
"Han- l-listen to me.. Y-you don't have to be sorry.. It was my fault." Seungcheol leaned back, instantly feeling more guilty when he saw Jeonghan staring down at his lap, waterfalls of tears streaming down his face. Pain. Pain was the only expression that reflected off Jeonghan's face.
"I-is this wh-why you.. left me..?" Jeonghan carefully asked, pointing out whatever the hell he had just seen, too afraid he might make a mistake and leave Seungcheol for god knows how long all over again. He kept his eyes fixated on his black jeans, until a strong pair of hands gently cupped both his cheeks and lifted his head up.
"I- I had no choice.. T-they told me.. t-they would hu-hurt you... they said i only h-had to do one j-job for them.. but it kept coming and coming.. and i missed.. i missed you so goddamn much Han.."
It was Jeonghan who caught him in an unexpected kiss, gently pressing their lips together, making all the worries that haunted them for the past three weeks disappear. Seungcheol instantly moved forward, pulling Jeonghan tighter against his chest as both boys were desperate to be engulfed in each others warmth more and more.
After risking his life multiple times, being forced to do things against his own will and being mentally drained, Seungcheol felt safe and he allowed himself to rest for once. Jeonghan's lips were the only thing that mattered to him in the moment.
