After Wonwoo finally got rid of Soonyoung and Jisoo gave up on murdering Jeonghan with a pillow, they decided to watch a movie. Soonyoung stood in the kitchen with Jisoo, making snacks and Jeonghan was in control of the remote. He scrolled through the genres on Netflix, although he came back on one type of movies over and over again.
Horror.
"This one is nice!" Jeonghan chirped happily once another one catched his eye. The cover seemed scary enough to even scare the beating shit out of Jeonghan, what was nearly impossible but worth a try. Seungcheol, who sat next to him, pulled his legs on the couch and got comfortable in the corner, clutching one of the pillows against his stomach.
"Why does it have to be horror? Can't we watch something less violent and scary? I mean what's wrong with comedy?" The eldest complained. "Are you scared?" Jeonghan gave him a challenging look, what seemed to panic Seungcheol a little. "Who said I'm scared?! I'm just saying that there is a possibility we can also watch something else.."
"Trust me, once you gave him the remote you can't change his mind." Soonyoung yelled from the kitchen, what faded away Seungcheol's last bit of hope.
Jisoo entered the living room as first, holding a tray that he set down in the middle of the coffee table. "Pizza rolls!" Jeonghan was the first to attack it the moment Jisoo had turned around again, going back for their drinks.
"What are you? Five?" Wonwoo insulted, what made Jeonghan chuckle. Everyone was used to Wonwoo's comments and then knew he wasn't being serious and laughed along about them in the end.
"Why are you being like that to me? Meanie!" Jeonghan pouted and pressed the play button of the movie he had been lingering on the longest, knowing everyone would agree with it in the end anyways.
Jisoo and Soonyoung both came back from the kitchen and placed everyone's drinks next to the tray before sitting down on their spots and focussing on the movie Jeonghan picked out. The room fell in a silence once everyone got comfortable.
Jeonghan doubted for a second if he should crawl against Seungcheol, but he didn't. Seungcheol sat all the way in the corner with a respective space in-between them and Jeonghan didn't want to make them look even more suspicious in front of his friends. Al though he had to admit, he would've loved Seungcheol's warm arms around him..
If he only knew that Seungcheol at that moment would have loved to be in Jeonghan's arms instead of taking the lead in a cuddle position himself. Because what he didn't know was that Seungcheol was terrified of horror movies. All he wanted to do was to clamp himself onto Jeonghan and to hide his face in his chest so that he eventually could fall asleep and didn't have to worry about the movie.
But he also knew that Jeonghan didn't tell his friends about a lot, so he guessed they also didn't know a lot about everything that was going on between the two. Making cuddling in front of them harder than he expected. So he remained in his position in the corner of the couch, using the pillow as protection.
After they were in the movie for about twenty minutes Jeonghan felt the prescense next to him leave. So he looked up, only to see Seungcheol standing up and walking away to the hallway, closing the door behind him again. Jeonghan assumed he just went to the toilet and he would come back soon enough.
But after another ten minutes, Jeonghan started to worry and questioned himself why he left so suddenly. The other three hadn't even noticed they were missing someone, so Jeonghan did the same thing Seungcheol did.
In utter silence he got up from the couch and he followed the same steps Seungcheol made, into the dark hallway. If he knew where the light switch was placed he would have turned it on, but after roaming his hands all the way over the smooth surface of the wall he gave up. The moonlight that shone through the little window in Soonyoungs front door had to do it for him.
"Cheol?"
It was only a whisper, but enough to echo through the small hallway.
"I'm here."
That's when Jeonghan saw him, a dark figure seated halfway on the stairs enveloped by a dark shadow. Jeonghan would have mistaken him for a pile of coats if it wasn't for the familiar sound of his voice. Until Seungcheol lifted his face from his knees, that were pulled up and held in its place by both his arms.
"Hey, is there something wrong?"
Jeonghan climbed up the stairs and sat down next to him. "I'm sorry, I'm just really bad with horror movies. They scare me." Seungcheol seemed so tiny in that moment and all Jeonghan wanted to do was to take care of him. The sudden urge to hug him and hold him in his arms was so big he couldn't even restrain himself, so he gave in to the feeling and sat one step higher so it looked like he was a little taller for once. He took Seungcheol's face in both hands and pressed it against his chest, caressing the skin of his cheeks and his black hair.
"I'm sorry Cheol.. I would have picked another movie if I knew.." Jeonghan apologized, feeling intense guilt rush through him after seeing Seungcheol so vulnerable. "Don't be sorry Hannie, you should be able to do the things you usually do with your friends. I don't want to be a burden to you."
Jeonghan moved one step down again so their faces were at the same height, still holding Seungcheol's face in both hands, forcing Seungcheol to look at nothing else but him. The stroke of moonlight fell right beside them and they barely saw each other in the darkness of the shadow. However, both found out soon enough that the closer they came, the more details they were able to see.
"You're not a burden to me and our friends don't think you're one either. And I'm glad you told me because next time we can either watch something different or cuddle up so you won't feel that scared." A small but genuine smile appeared on Seungcheol's face and he placed both his hands on Jeonghan's thighs, applying a gentle pressure on it as he leaned a little more towards his face.
"I prefer the second option if you don't mind."
Noses brushing against each other and heartbeats speeding up as both knew what the situation was building up to. Jeonghan held his hands on both sides of Seungcheol's cheeks, brushing his thumbs over the deep dimples right next to each side his lips. A tingling feeling shot all the way down his spine the moment he felt the heat of Seungcheol's breath tickling his lips and he realized it was his choice whether to close the gap in-between them or to move away.
Although jeonghan knew there was only one thing he wanted the most.
"I really want to kiss you right now Han.."
It was Seungcheol's whisper that pushed him over the edge and with a little more force than earlier that day, Jeonghan moved forward and pressed his lips on Seungcheol's.
