The loud sound of the shot echoed through the alleyway, followed by an overwhelming silence.
A sudden sense of realization hit Seungcheol. He still felt Jeonghan trembling horribly in his hands. He was still able to hear his breath and feel his heart beating rapidly in his chest. His father didn't shoot them, did he?
Then who on earth fired a gun?
Carefully, scared to make any wrong movement, Seungcheol's head peered up from Jeonghan's silky like hair, peeking through his eye lashes to make sure they were safe.
Bright lights blinded his sight when he managed to open his eyes, both colors blue and red flashing constantly. And when he understood as to why these specific colors filled the alleyway out of sudden, last bits of hope filled him.
The alley's exit was blocked by tons of police cars, heavily armed officers hurrying themselves out of the car before anyone could escape.
"Fuck.." Seungcheol's father grunted, his hands shaking in anger and clamping around his gun tighter than before.
"Han.. we're safe.. we're saved." Seungcheol whispered, finally getting Jeonghan to look up as well. Tears of happiness filled the blonde haired males eyes once he saw the cops and realized that their salvation had arrived.
or that's what they thought.
Because the moment Seungcheol's father turned around with eyes shooting fire, their hopes and dreams shattered in at least a million pieces.
"I'm going to fucking murder you. Both of you." He growled in his raspy voice, clicking the hammer of his gun aggressively back, making the sound louder than the howling sirens coming from the police vehicles.
"No no no.." Jeonghan silently cried out, burying his nose back in the crook of Seungcheol's neck, clamping onto him once again.
"Drop your weapon! You're surrounded!" One of the police officers yelled out, while most of mister Choi's men were already being captured, cuffed and led to the cars.
However, Seungcheol's father kept walking closer and closer to the boys, speeding up in his tracks with a psychopathic grin on his face. "You're dead." He growled lowly, followed by a loud yell, "You're fucking dead!"
Out of a sudden he pointed his gun back up at the boys. Seungcheol pressing his eyeslids tightly back on each other, holding onto Jeonghan as if his life depended on it. Literally.
He had never been this scared in his life before. The look on his father's face described the man wasn't scared of anything. No cop could stop him from finishing the job he was written. Not even when a whole bunch of officers surrounded him, ready to kill him on commando.
The second shot that echoed through the hallway made Seungcheol's body sink in a little.
But the pain never came.
And sensing Jeonghan still trembling and breathing properly, made him realize his father hadn't been the one who fired the gun.
Seungcheol instantly turned his face back, seeing the gun his father was supposed to shoot them with lay on the floor and the hand he held it with drenched with blood. The maniacal smile had never left his face as mister Choi looked down at the dark red substance that oozed from his hand.
A sight that made Seungcheol douvhr what was more sickening; the sinister gaze he held or the gap in his hand.
He had never seen his father wearing such a horrid expression before. The shivers is sent all the way down his spine got even worse when his father's face peered up in a slow pace, their eyes locking gaze.
"I have to do everything myself.." He whispered underneath his breath, walking closer to Seungcheol who held Jeonghan's head pressed against his chest in protection, "If they don't let me use my gun, these hands are going to finish the jo-"
"-what on earth is happening here?" Another familiar voice joined in.
Both Seungcheol and his father looked up to see the backdoor to the club was being opened, the worried faces of Jisoo, Soonyoung and Wonwoo appearing on the doorstep.
"Stay there, he's dangerous!" Seungcheol yelled, motioning for them to go back inside.
However, Seungcheol could tell by the gaze in his father's eyes that he had chosen his new victims already, bloodlust drenching his eyes, inching closer to the three boys who appeared out of nowhere.
"Guess we're getting even more.." He threw his head back in laughter, making him undergo a huge mistake for his own sake.
Because right at the moment his attention loosened for the mere of a second, three cops ran forward, two of them grabbing hold of both his hands and the other one pointing his gun directly at the back of his head.
"Don't move!" The officer yelled, making the other two males cuff his hands together behind his back. Another cop rushed to the two boys on the floor, checking if they were okay and a second cop ran to the boys who still stood frozen on the door step, forcing them to come outside so they wouldn't cause panic to those who were still inside the building.
"Get your fucking hands off me!" His father screamed, instinctively trying to kick his way out of the strong grip the two males had on him. Even though he knew it was over for good, he tried his hardest to use any form of violence to obstruct being dragged to the police cars any closer.
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against-"
"-fuck you!" He yelled as he spit directly in the face of the officer who, unbothered, held the car door opened for him.
"-you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning-"
"Just get over with it, I know this bullshit already!
"-If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you have the right to stop answering at any time."
His desperate screams were cut off by the officer slamming the door closed, making the alleyway return back in all silence again, the silent cries of Jeonghan being the only thing heard.
Seungcheol's heart was still beating like a madman, not being able to get over the fact that they nearly got killed. He tried his best to steady his breath once he saw the car, the man he used to call his dad, was exported in drove away.
"We need to ask the five of you to come along with us to the office. Ask the witness a couple of questions, just the regular. It's nothing special. It will take an hour at most." The cop, standing next to Jeonghan and Seungcheol, explained. The five boys who were still frozen, processing what exactly just happened, nodded, following the three cops who were still with them to their cars, with nothing but empty stares.
Most of the cars had already left off, exporting all men they captured directly to prison, locking them up until court.
While Seungcheol followed the cop to the car, he felt Jeonghan's hand slipping into his, interlacing their fingers and clamping onto him tightly. When he looked back over his shoulder he saw the face of the angel-like boy, managing to force out a tiny smile.
Even in this situation, where they nearly died,
Jeonghan smiled at him.
He smiled.
