COMPLETED - Malec: A Love Like No Other

Tired and in Love

Alec was absolutely shattered by the time he got back to the loft. A long meeting in Idris had called Alec in to be the representative of the  New York Shadowhunters and after speaking to Magnus about it, Alec had agreed. Little did he know that the job took so much effort and time. It had been a week since Alec had been in New York and stepping through the Portal to Magnus' loft felt like heaven.

Magnus felt a Portal open and grinned to himself. That was his Alexander back from the meeting. As soon as the Portal faded, he heard Alec come into the sitting room with a tired, "Magnus, I'm home!" "In here, darling," Magnus called from the kitchen and he soon felt familiar hands wrap around his middle and a familiar face burying itself into Magnus' neck.

"Hello to you too," Magnus murmured, turning his attention from the hob to Alec. He gave Alec a gentle kiss and Alec smiled through it. "Hey, Magnus, what are you making?" Alec asked, voice covered in drowsiness. "Boiling a potion for a client," Magnus replied, "How was your very long meeting?" Alec huffed disappointedly. "It was very tiring and not much progress was made," Alec said and Magnus gave him a sympathetic smile. "Well you're here now, sweetheart," Magnus said and smiled when Alec lightened up. Magnus had a fab idea.

"Go freshen up, Alexander," Magnus demanded softly. Alec groaned and said, "Do I have to?" Magnus smiled and nodded. With a defeated sight, Alec went into their bedroom and stepped inside the shower. The warm water was soothing and just when he was about to get out, Magnus shouted, "We're going on a date, honey, wear the clothes that are one the bed!" Alec tried to hide the disappointment that came when he said, "Okay." All he wanted was rest and even if dates with Magnus are magical, Alec was too tired and just wanted to stay in.

When he stepped out of the bathroom, expecting a very fancy tuxedo or something, he found grey sweatpants, a white undershirt and some black robes. Confused, Alec called for his boyfriend. Magnus danced into the bedroom, he himself wearing some black shorts and a grey sweater that was Alec's. 

"Magnus, where are we going?" Alec asked, narrowing his eyes. "Shush, it's a surprise," Magnus said and after persuasion, Magnus managed to get Alec into the chosen clothes. "Close your eyes," Magnus directed and after rolling his eyes, Alec obliged. He expected Magnus to be dragging his through a Portal, but instead Alec felt himself walking only a short distance before Magnus told him to open his eyes. Alec did.

They weren't in a spectacular place. They were just in the sitting room of the loft. The sofa had about a dozen blankets thrown over it; the table next to the sofa had two boxes of pizza and a few cans of beer and the TV displayed a movie waiting to be unpaused. A few candles glistened here and there. Alec turned to a grinning Magnus.

"Seriously, Alexander?" Magnus asked with amusement, "You really think I'd drag you on a date to some marvellous place when you are this shattered?" Alec looked at his boyfriend and realised how bad life would be without him. And without waiting for a thank you or any sort of reaction from Alec, Magnus threw himself onto the sofa. "This Alexander," Magnus said, smiling slowly, "Is a stay-in, watch-Netflix, eat-pizza kind of date."

Alec, nearly laughing with happiness and exhaustion, collapsed next to Magnus, head leaning against Magnus' neck. "You really are tired," Magnus commented, sliding his fingers through Alec's hair. "No, Magnus, I lied about my whole week because I want to get pampered by you," Alec said sarcastically. "Oh you do like getting pampered," Magnus flirted, "Especially by me." "Only by you," Alec corrected and Magnus kissed Alec's forehead, endeared by his Shadowhunter.

"Pizza?" Magnus asked after a few  moments of comfortable silence. Alec nodded and Magnus handed him a slice. "Pepperoni and extra cheese," Magnus offered and Alec smiled, grateful for some tasty food after bland Institute food. Alec ate his pizza slowly, still leaning against Magnus and with Magnus' fingers still firmly in his dark curls. Magnus had opted for beer rather than pizza. "Eat some food and then get drunk," Alec suggested. "I'm not getting drunk today, because I have a tired Shadowhunter to look after," Magnus said and Alec kissed his neck; the only part of Magnus that he could reach.

"Thank you, Magnus," Alec said when all the pizza was gone and the film was halfway over. Both off them had a beer can on their hand and were slowly drinking it. Magnus looked at Alec, who currently occupied his lap. "What for?" Magnus inquired. "For all this," Alec said, "For looking after me and for being here whenever I need you and for knowing exactly what I want or need." "Of course, Alexander, it's my pleasure," Magnus said and brushed some hair out of Alec's eyes. "I love you," Alec said and his eyes fluttered shut. 

Magnus turned the TV off. "Let's watch the movie another night; let's get you to bed," Magnus suggested. Alec groaned. "I'll sleep here, you go to bed," Alec offered. "No, Alexander, let's go to bed, your body's going to ache if you're sleeping on the couch," Magnus said, grinning at his tired boyfriend. "But it's warm!" Alec moaned. "I'll make sure you're warm in bed; no dirty meaning implied, come on, Alexander," Magnus said and after more disappointed huffs, Alec drowsily got up. Magnus supported a half-asleep Alec and took him to the bedroom.

Alec fell onto the bed, pulled the covers up to his chin and immediately closed his eyes. Magnus thought Alec was definitely asleep and was about to get his laptop when Alec opened one eye. "You said you'll keep me warm," Alec reminded him. Magnus grinned and slipped inside covers and placed a kiss on Alec's forehead as the Shadowhunter cuddled close to him, nose in Magnus' neck and a hand thrown over Magnus' torso. "Good night, Alexander, love you," Magnus said and Alec sleepily mumbled back, "I love you too, Magnus. Good night."
