COMPLETED - Malec: A Love Like No Other

Talks of Hope and Love

A/N This is set in City of Ashes where Jace, Clary and the others go to the Seelie Court, but Alec stays behind with Magnus.

Magnus was on the couch, a drink in hand. Alec, on the other hand, was madly pacing the on the wooden floor, running his hand through his already-messy hair. "Alexander," Magnus said, afraid Alec was going mental, "What's wrong?" Alec turned to Magnus with his blue eyes in complete shock.

"What's wrong?!" Alec screeched, "WHAT'S WRONG?!" And then he took a calming breath. "Magnus, if my parents know I'm here, I'm dead!" Alec said and started pacing the floor again. Magnus shook his head. "Yeah, but they don't know and I don't think anyone's going to tell them," Magnus tutted, trying to get Alec to calm down. "There's also the fact that everyone I care about are in the Seelie Courts, in the hands of the most cruel person and - and - that there's going to be a massive war, with us and Valentine and -" Magnus cut him off.

"Alec, there will always be wars. But to win a war, you need more than strong, skilled people. You need hope. And the only way you will find hope is if you have love. So give yourself the time to love, and I don't mean just relationship-love, but friendship, parabatai, sister, and all that. Just stop for a moment. Think of everyone you love. Becasue they give you hope. And without hope, there is absolutely nothing."

Alec stood in front of Magnus, his eyes searching Magnus'. And then he sat next to Magnus on the couch. "You're wise, Magnus," Alec stated, his voice in a dream-like state. "Immortality," Magnus said and then gulped in a breath. "How is it like to be immortal?" Alec asked, curious. 

"It's painful. You watch every single person you love die. And you feel so alone," Magnus answered and Alec wrapped an arm around Magnus' shoulder and pulled the warlock against him. "This probably won't mean much," Alec started, "But as long as I live, you won't be alone." Magnus turned so that he was looking at Alec. "Alexander, that means everything," Magnus whispered.

Magnus didnt know whether Alec was consious of what he was doing, but the Shadowhunter kissed the top of Magnus' head and Magnus id his best to curl into Alec even if he himself was taller. "Do you want to watch a movie?" Magnus inquired. "Sure," Alec replied and Magnus snapped his fingers and the TV displayed the start of an awful film Magnus had watched on Netflix. It was a comedy and the jokes were so bad that it became hilarious.

Alec didn't laugh at any of the awful jokes. He seemed in a world of his own and Magnus knew that this was all more than a war that was coming. Magnus paused the film. "Alec, talk to me," Magnus prompted gently. Alec's fingers searched and found Magnus' before Alec started playing with the rings that adorned the warlock's fingers.

"It's just that I'm worried about everything. And scared. This war that's coming. I don't give a crap if I die. It's just that if anyone else I care about dies, I won't be able to live with it. It'll - it'll be my fault. It always is. And I can't talk to anyone about anything because all their problems are bigger than mine. That's how it always is.

And I'm scared about everything I feel for you. I've never felt this way about anyone. Not Jace, not anyone. But I can't have this - this -  relationship with you without disappointing everyone around me. I'm worried what everyone will say and I know I shouldn't be. But I am. I'm scared every single minute. The minute I wake up, I'm scared that something's going to happen to Jace or Izzy. Every time I'm with you, I'm scared about what I feel and I can't deal with it anymore. I want to go to a place where I can be on my own without any responsibilities. I want to go somewhere where I can feel before I think. I want to go to Heaven."

Magnus couldn't help but gasp. 'I want to go to Heaven'. Magnus was sure that the meaning ran deeper than wanting to go to a peaceful place. Magnus realised that his fingers were somehow linked with Alec's, so he brought it up and kissed Alec's knuckle before talking in a hushed voice.

"I know it's hard. Trust me, I know. But you are going to make it through this, Alec. There's going to be a time when you are so happy that you light up everyone around you. You already light me up everytime I see you. And when you are happy, when you hve everything you want, you'll be the brightest star in the world. You're already my brightest star," Magnus finsihed and caught Alec blushing. "Of course, I might be biased in saying that you are the brightest star because I'm very much attracted to you, but still," Magnus added and Alec blushed again. 

A few moments passed before Alec said quietly, "Magnus?" Magnus looked at Alec, an eyebrow raised. "Thank you. For this. It's nice to have someone to talk to," Alec said and Magnus kissed Alec's neck, the only part of Alec that he could get his lips too. Alec inhaled a sharp breath and Magnus grinned before leaning his head against Alec's chest and shooting his legs out towards thh other end of the sofa. Alec's hand came around Magnus' shoulder and Magnus asked teasingly, "Want to watch the movie?" Alec smiled. A smile that looked so uncertain and disbelieving. But it was a real smile. Alec kissed Magnus' head once again and whispered, "Okay, then."
