A/N Check out the first part to this chapter (Heaven vs Hell - Part 1) to know what is happening in this part. I hope y'all enjoy! All characters belong to Cassandra Clare.

Alec finished typing up the last document of the day. An hour of training with Jace and then he could go home. As if reading his mind, Jace danced into Alec's room and grinned. "Ready to get thrashed?" Jace asked cockily. "Oh come one," Alec said, "If it weren't for your Angel blood, you wouldn't get one hit on me and I still beat you sometimes." Jace's grin grew wider. "I'm only joking," Jace responded, "After all, I'd be a bad parabatai if I underestimated you, don't you think?" Alec shook his head and with a smile, the brothers headed into the training room.

The hour went by rather quick, with Jace and Alec doing hand-to-hand combat and Izzy and Clary practising throws at the further end of the room. Alec could not wait to get home and have a shower and kiss his boyfriend 'hello'. Alec knew that Magnus was busy today so didn't ring the warlock to ask for a Portal. Instead, after goodbyes to Jace, Izzy and Clary, Alec hailed a cab to Brooklyn.

When Alec walked into the loft with a jovial 'I'm home', there was no reply. And that's when Alec saw a letter on the table by the sofa. It was addressed to him, so Alec opened the letter and read. It was barely a paragraph.

Alexander,

I had to leave you to save you. If you are mad at me, I understand, but please forget about me and live your life to the fullest. I'll be watching you, sweet pea, whether I'm with you or in Hell, and I'll always love you. Thank you for everything and I am so so sorry.

Yours forever, Magnus.

A single tear escaped Alec's eyes. Magnus had left him and Alec did not know why. Even if Alec knew where Magnus was, he'd go and save him. But he did not know anything. He did not even know if Magnus loved him as he crumpled to the floor.

Magnus looked at the sandy stretch of Edom and found his father's fortress in the distance. Magnus took off towards it and a flying demon with scaly skins flew beside him, snickering. "Son of Asmodeus," the demon screeched happily, "Here to join us after all?" Magnus looked at the demon and smiled. "I suppose I am." Magnus dropped his head and his smile vanished. Biting back tears, Magnus thought, 'Here I am, father. At your mercy'.

It didn't take long for Magnus to reach the ruins of his father's place. The gates opened automatically as Magnus neared it and Magnus had the ache to run away and find Alec. He could not do that. With his head held high, Magnus walked inside and found Asmodeus sitting on a throne, smiling with a cruel pride.

"Magnus," Asmodeus said and Magnus shivered at the coldness that possessed his body. "Hi, father," Magnus said casually and Asmodeus moved forwards and took one of Magnus' hands in his. Magnus hid from the want to flinch away. Instead he looked Asmodeus in the eye. "I would like to show the Angel's Children of our power. I'm unleashing a demon of Edom into New York," Asmodeus said as if this was like giving people a new food for taste-testing. And at Magnus' astonished expression, Asmodeus added, "What do you think your Nephilim friends will do after they learn of your betrayal?"

Magnus did not have enough time to protest when a glow emitted from their joined hands. The glow was red and poisonous. Asmodeus chanted and Magnus could not jerk his hand away. Asmodeus kept a firm hold and when the chant was finished, there was an expanding crack on the floor beside them. It was the opening of a boundary between Earth and Hell. One of Edom's demon flew through it. But first it looked at Magnus and said, "Master Magnus helped Prince Asmodeus open the boundary between Earth and Hell. That would've been impossible for Prince Asmodeus to do on his own."

Jace had his Sensor near him as he wrote up a report. Suddenly, the Sensor beeped hysterically and Jace looked at it with concern. It was a single demon but it was right outside the Institute. Knowing a single demon would pose no problem for Jace, he headed outside, equipped with seraph blades and a dagger. But as a precaution, he told Izzy and Clary about what was was doing.

It was only one demon. It slashed at Jace but he got a cut on it with his dagger. The place where he had cut oozed blood and then the blood formed a shape. It became a miniature version of the actual demon. Jace understood what was happening. He'd read about these kind of demons.

Every cut to the main demon would result in the formation of one of the miniatures. After all the miniatures (most likely two dozens) have been destroyed, the demon would be banished. At the top of his voice, Jace shrieked, "BACK UP!" Even with his Angel blood, two dozen demons and a Greater Demon seemed a big challenge.

Clary and Izzy filed out of the Institute, both of them heavily armed. Jace managed to get a few good slices on the main demon and Izzy and Clary made short work of the miniatures. Clary got another cut on the main demon and it wailed before another miniature formed. Izzy handled it with her whip. Jace was sure they had killed the twenty four demons and he was proved right.

The demon vanished. But before it did, it hissed out a sentence that made all three of them stare in shock: "Master Magnus helped Prince Asmodeus open the boundary between Earth and Hell. That would've been impossible for Prince Asmodeus to do on his own."

To be continued...
