I really wasn't tired. It was almost midnight and there's not really anything to do.

Tonight I would be pulling my second all nighter in a row, this week.

I rolled onto my side staring at the wall. I let out a sigh before forcing myself up from the bed, and grabbing my red Indiana sweatshirt and my camera.

I put on my slides and grabbed my phone and made sure my hotel key was in the back of it.

I quietly opened and shut the door hoping not to wake Olive or Jay up. I made my way down the hall deciding to take the stairs to where I wanted to go.

I walked through the lobby smiling at the people still up, working at the front desk. There is faint music playing in the background just loud enough to keep everyone awake for the rest of the night.

I opened the front door, the humid midwest air hitting my face. I walked past the basketball court and the pool, getting to my destination. The sky was just perfect for what I wanted to capture.

I walked into the grassy field where there are no trees or lights reflecting off the hotel. I can hear the locusts humming in the distance. The only source of light to be seen are the stars.
There are so many of them in the sky tonight.

I hooked my camera around my neck pressing the power button. I laid down on the ground appreciating my view. Mother nature is beautiful.

I held my camera up to my face so I could get a clear shot of the sky.

I looked down at the camera smiling as I see the one bright star. I know it's probably a planet, but I like to think it's my childhood dog, Poppy looking down on me. I smiled up at the sky, putting my hands behind my head supporting it.

Poppy meant the world to me. My family got her when I was eight and my brother was eleven. She was my safe haven. She slept with me at night.

She would always snore though. And when she sneezed...it felt like the whole world shook.

Her breath was the worst, I loved her no matter what.

My mind wandered with the calming feeling of warmth go

ing throughout my body. There was a light breeze hitting my skin, that sent a shiver down my spine.

There was nothing better than silence.

Not lonely silence, or trapped in your head silence. But the kind of silence where you're not thinking at all. You're just observing and taking in  the feeling...the feeling of being relaxed and at peace.

I stay in my spot for a little over a half hour just admiring the sky and letting my body relax.

Everything I felt right now, I wasn't damaged. I was me.

deciding to head back to the hotel even though I wasn't tired, I forced myself up gaining my balance as one foot stepped in front of the other. I really hoped there weren't any snakes, even though the sky is lit up I can't see the black, long, slithering, venomous animal on the ground.
