2 years later

Today is Kyle and Ella's wedding day. It's going to be the most beautiful day of their lives. I've been planning like no tomorrow and I'm excited for today.

Their wedding will be held outside on a beach in Hawaii. That's where we are. We flew across the country for their wedding and it'll be worth every penny.

It's a beautiful sunny day in July at Makenna Cove Beach in Maui. The view is beautiful from my hotel room and I know the view will be even better on the beach at five.

I'm up at eight in the morning to make sure Ella is okay and that everything is getting set up.

This wedding has taken up most of my free time. Ella put me in charge of planning and everything since I am the maid of honor. I have no idea why she chose me but that is the only reason I am even in Hawaii right now.

I head down to the beach. There's a light breeze but they're setting up nicely. White flowers hang on an arch that Kyle and Ella will stand under for the ceremony. Twelve rows of fourteen chairs are in front of the arch and there's an aisle in the middle of the chairs. Everything seems to be going well so I go check on the reception area.

Two times the amount of people will be coming to the reception so we had to book a pretty big place. It's actually just the ballroom of the hotel that we're staying at. Kyle and Ella fly out tonight to go to Japan for their honeymoon but the guests will stay the night at this hotel, which is fully booked for this wedding.

The ballroom is huge with a beautiful view from the deck outside. Large chandeliers hang from the ceiling. About two dozen tables are set up with about thirteen seats at each table. That's enough for just over three hundred people. A DJ and a dance floor is set up. There are white flowers everywhere, decorating the large room.

There will be so much food served tonight. Lots of pasta and other Italian dishes, which is what Ella wanted since her family is very Italian.

After checking in on the setup of the reception, I go and check on our bride. As I walk up to the bride's room, I run into Kyle.

"Hey," Kyle says. "Everything okay?"

I nod and say, "Everything's perfect. We're right on schedule to start at five. I'm just on my way to check on Ella and make sure she's okay."

He nods and says, "Good. I'd go check on her but she's very superstitious. I can't see her on our wedding day before the ceremony."

I laugh softly and I say, "It's kind of bad luck."

Kyle smiles at me for a second before it fades and he asks, "Have you talked to him recently?"

I sigh softly and shake my head. "Not since the day he left," I say. "I still don't even know why he left. I woke up and there was a note and he was gone."

That was almost six months ago.

Kyle gives me a reassuring smile and says, "He'll be at the wedding if you want to talk to him. Maybe figure out why he left. I know it's been really hard on you but you can get some closure tonight."

I nod and force a smile. "Yeah, maybe," I say. "I'm going to go check on Ella. I'll see you later.

He smiles again at me before walking away.

I walk back toward Ella's room.

The day Adam left was the worst day I've experienced so far. No goodbyes, no explanations. Just a note that I carry around with me sometimes because I miss him.

Sure, I've seen him around the NXT locker rooms but he avoids me. I learned that in the weeks following him leaving after I tried to talk to him.

The contract expired last year but we continued the on-screen relationship until the day he left. He came up with some story about why the relationship ended and I just went along with it.
