Chapter 19: Prom

"Hurry and put your dress on, Shinobu!" Kanae said as she pushed her sister into her shared room with Sanemi. Shinobu grumbled before finally stripping from her normal clothes and into the dress she bought "I'm done." She simply said before they opened the door "Mitsuri- chan, work your magic." Tsutako called as Mitsuri came in with her things. She sprawled all the make up she had on the floor for all of them to see "I'll have her ready. Tsutako- chan, could you help Kanae- chan with her make up?" Mitsuri asked as she gave Shinobu a clip for her bangs. Tsutako nodded before exiting the room and into the spare room "Mitsuri- senpai, you don't hav-" "It's Mitsuri- chan now. I have no plans in particular. Plus, I would've wanted to be your make up artist for such an event!" She exclaimed as she started applying some foundation on Shinobu's face. She then proceeded to dashing some concealer on certain spots before applying press powder "Hmmm." Mitsuri hummed as she was picking between blue or purple for her eye shadow. Shinobu pointed at the purple one as it matched with her dress. She nodded as she dabbed a bit on her brush and asked the latter to close her eyes. She carefully applied it for it not to spread. She blended it with a light shade of silver by the edge for a fading effect. She grabbed the liquid eyeliner and traced over the top of her eyelashes and added a small wing when she reached the end of her eye. She brushed some mascara over her long eyelashes before proceeding to her blush. She chose a rosy tone and lightly dashed it over her slim cheeks before choosing out light red lipstick for her luscious lips. She gently applied it for a more lighter tone before backing away from her to look. She nodded before brushing her eyebrows "You're eyebrows are perfect. I don't need to go over them!" She said as she finished "You can open your eyes now." Mitsuri said with a wide smile. Shinobu slowly fluttered her eyes before blinking at Mitsuri as she looked at her with small tears in her eyes "Mitsuri- chan, what's wrong?" Shinobu asked as she tilted her head at her. She shook her head before sniffing "Let's go do you're hair." She said as she pulled Shinobu to the dresser where a mirror stood in front of a swiveling chair. Mitsuri sat her down before brushing her hair "We'll keep your bangs the same, but how about we curl the edges a bit?" She said as she looked at Shinobu's reflection in the mirror. She just nodded as Mitsuri grabbed the hair curler and waited for it to heat up. She took portions of Shinobu's gradient locks and equally took her time to curl them. She made sure to brush Shinobu's bangs so they'd fall equally around her face. She opened the drawer and chose some silver earrings and bracelet. The earrings had a butterfly shaped diamond with silver lining on it. The bracelet had two pendants attached to it. One of a butterfly and one of a small wave "Shinobu- chan." Mitsuri called "Do you want to wear that gold necklace with it? Everything else is in silver." She pointed as Shinobu held the necklace in her hand "It's Giichi's so it means everything to me." She said before looking at it "Oh! I remember! Kanae had one customized since she figured you wouldn't want to take it off!" Mitsuri exclaimed as she rummaged through the drawer for a blue box. She opened it in front of Shinobu to reveal the same necklace, but in silver. She pulled it out of the box before removing her other necklace and putting it on. Mitsuri sprayed her hair with hairspray for it to stay in place before spraying setting spray for her make up not to smudge "You look gorgeous." Mitsuri complimented as she started bawling. Shinobu comforted her with a confused smile before the once crying latter pulled her out of the room.

"Tsutako- chan!" Kanae exclaimed as Tsutako was trying to add her lipstick "This looks better on you! Trust me!" She said as she fought back through Kanae's grip on her hands. They stopped when a loud knock was heard on the door "We're done!" Mitsuri's voice as she opened the door "I present to you, Prom Queen!" Mitsuri exclaimed as she pulled Shinobu into the room. The two best friends looked her up and down before they squealed. Their eyes shined as they approached her "Shinobu! You look so pretty! Giichi might faint upon seeing you!" She said as Tsutako nodded in agreement. They ended up complimenting each other as Mitsuri finished fixing up Kanae.
