𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐀 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐃 (𝙲𝚑𝚊𝚜𝚎 𝙳𝚊𝚟𝚎𝚗𝚙𝚘𝚛𝚝 𝚇 𝙴𝚗𝚋𝚒 𝙾𝙲)

𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄 || 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞

I close my locker holding my song book while Adam, Chase, and Leo chat. I'm hoping to finish some of the songs I have been writing.

"Guys, with the dance coming up, I thought you could use a lesson on how to ask someone out." Leo tells us.

With the dance coming up that's all anyone can talk about and how they should ask their crushes out. I hate it 1. I don't know how to dance 2. I'm a giant introvert and don't like huge crowds and 3. No one has asked me to be their date (probably because I'm the only LGBTQ+ person that is out at this school.)

"Oh, great. Do you know a guy who can teach us?" Adam teases Leo making me chuckle.

"Me! You're going to watch me ask out the girl of my dreams: Danielle." Leo smiles.

"Danielle?" I ask.

"Isn't she the girl who uses you as a footstool in math class?" Chase asks.

"Where else is she supposed to put her feet-- on the floor?! Open your notebooks, guys, because class is in session." Leo says smugly, walking over to Danielle trying to be as cool as possible.

"Hello, Danielle. Do you know how much a polar bear weighs? Enough to break the ice. I'm Leo Dooley." Yeah, he is not cool I think to myself.

"Didn't you send me 87 e-mails?" She questions him.

"Yeah. That was a slow day."

"Okay, well, see you later, Lenny." Danielle gets up and walks away. "It's Leo, by the way." Leo calls after her.

"So, Leo... What should I write down in my notebook? I mean, other than 'denied'."  I laugh with Chase.

"No, no, no, you can cheat off me. I have, 'She's not going to the dance with Lenny.'" I can't tell if Adam was being serious or not, but his comment just made me laugh harder.

"Are you guys talking about the dance too? Why is everybody making such a big deal out of this stupid dance?" Bree says walking up to us.

"Nobody's asked you yet, have they?" I state already knowing the answer.

"No!" Bree grumbles. "I really want to go with that guy. His name is Ethan. We sit next to each other in chemistry. Coincidence? I think not. Chemistry! What should I do?" Brew asks.

"I got this." Chase looks to Ethan and turns on his bionic hearing.

"He's talking about a girl he thinks is cute... Eww! He's talking about you! He's coming over here right now to ask you to the dance." Chase looks back to us as Ethan starts to walk towards us.

"What?! No! Now? Why? Really?" Bree stammers turning slightly red. I turn her around and slightly push her to face Ethan who is now in front of her.

"How's it going?" Ethan asks.

"Ethan! What a huge surprise! To see you here, for reasons we do not know." Chase lies dumbly.

"Hey, Ethan. How... uh, you know... we... uh, you know... decided... What is that over there?" Bree stuttered before pointing to nothing and super speeding away.

"Where'd she go?" Ethan asks turning back to face us. I look to the others for an answer.

"Uh, more importantly, what is that over there?" Adam points in the same direction Bree pointed and we all run out of the hall once Ethan looks away again.

I walk into the Lab with Chase smiling happily. Leo and Adam are in the corner playing with toy robots.

"Hey, guys, we finally figured it out." I greet them.
